- Q: My husband & I are adding a bathroom to our basement. We don't have TONS of space, but have found the shower & toilet that will work (both are white).We like some of the modern styled vanities but are finding them to be ridiculously expensive $2200 - $2800 for the sink & vanity. We don't need to go dirt cheap, but we think more than $1,500 is just nuts.We actually need to keep the vanity to no more than 31 inches wide so we aren't looking for anything too big.Does anyone know of websites or brands we could check out that have bathroom sinks & vanities that are nicer than the off the shelf Home Depot & OKorders products but aren't $2grand plus?
- Check out the vanities on the website below as they have many different styles of small bathroom vanities that have the counter tops included. In the second link, is a photo of one I bought at Home Depot (special order I think) for about $400. Kohler Archer ?Petite Vanity, in Black Forest with matching sink top. It does have two drawers, with the pipes exposed in the middle, and measures 24' wide by 20' deep.
- Q: I have this bathroom vanity light that was given to me by dads friend who owns a lighting company. It is a really nice lighting fixture that attaches to my bathroom mirror. There is one problem I have with it one of bulbs broke the glass piece that covers it. I think what happened was the bulb got so hot that it broke it. I glued but back but the heat from the bulb burned the glue and now the whole lighting fixture looks like crap and I want to replace it, however I am not sure what type of lighting fixture will attach to the mirror. Is there something special I have to look for. Any help Thanks
- Are you saying the old fixture replaced into no longer linked to the copper floor cord on your electric feed, or that there is not any copper floor cord interior the feed? If the former, connect the copper cord to the hot fixture. If the fixture would not have a floor cord, screw the floor to a metallic area of the fixture. If the later, you definitely could improve the feed cord to contain a floor.

- Q: I had some black hair dye accidentally get on my bathroom vanity top. The vanity top is white not marble not granite not sure the material. The apartment is very new everything is pretty high end so it may be marble but the color is white. I put bleach on the stain to remove it but it turned it a light green color? Should I try more bleach? Or just hire a professional cleaner to try and remove the mess?has anyone experienced this? - Since there's also peroxide (a form of bleach) in the hair dye...putting more bleach won't improve your vanity stain.....Try a paste with baking soda and water, putting a damp (old) towel over the stain for 24 hours......keep dampening the towel or cover it with plastic wrap to prevent it drying out!....Sometimes HAIR turns green when too much color is too different from the last i.e. brown to blonde......which makes the hair green (such as someone who dyes their hair blonde & then goes into a swimming pool....then it turns a nasty green color being in a chlorinated pool)!
- Q: I am looking for a bathroom vanity that has 2 sinks, but is 48" or less. I would also like it to have some counter space, so the sinks would need to be small.
- Actually, a 48 vanity takes a 49 vanity top. Most Home Depots or Lowes have these, but you might have to special order a double bowl style. FYI that's pretty close together for two people, most double bowl vanity tops go on 60 vanities
- Q: The developer used a kitchen cabinet for the vanity in the bathroom. It's really big and has lots of storage but It's kind of deep, which means you can't get really close to the mirror and has no drawer space, but I can deal with that. Problem is it's counter height and he installed an above counter faucet. I'm 5'5" and it's tough for me to use. Any ideas on how to fix? Get a recessed sink installed. The countertop is granite... - There is really no 'standard' It depends on if it is over the medicine cabinet or if it is sconce type on the sides of the mirror. Either way you need to take the size of the light and globes to be sure it will not interfere with the medicine cabinet door. Usually with scone lights I have the customer decide the height. Depends on the light design. Think three steps ahead !
