- Q:I know the speed of light is 186,00 mph (or something like that) but what exactly is a light year?
- A light year is the distance light travels in one year. Or, for sci-fi, the distance you go in one year if you travel at the speed of light. Light-years are a measure of distance, not time. So if your stars are ten light-years apart, it takes ten years at the speed of light to travel from one to the other.
- Q:We understand light is made up of particles. A beam of light particles would have weight of some amount, if so could Light push or propel an object?
- Well, light can be viewed as a particle. But it's a massless particle. On the other hand, a ray of light is bent when passing a massive object. And that could be viewed as one of the properties of a body that has weight. So this means that I can't say yes and I can't say no. Gonna have to think about this one........
- Q:I'm looking for a motorcycle tail light for a motorized bike I'm trying to make street legal. Does anyone know where I can find a good LED 12 volt tail light/brake light that is DOT approved and not to expencive?I'm planing on fitting it to a bracket on my rear rack that is originally for a bicycle reflector so I want a flat square shaped tail light that's 3 to 4 inches wide. I can work with bigger if I have to but 5 inches is as big as I'd be willing to go so it's not blocking the turn signals. Online it seems almost impossible to tell if a tail light is DOT approved or not unless they say which usualy they don't.
- DOT is for legal to sell. For using what matters if the you get enough light. You can use motorcycle lights, car lights, trailer lights....

- Most new cars will disable the fog lights when you switch to high beams. Nothing wrong with having more lights on to get the attention of that teen texting. Edit: I didn't realize most states it is illegal. I can't imagine how two little lights at the bottom of your car impairs peoples vision. I guess someone got bees in their bonnet about my texting joke. Seriously though, there are enough people on the road not paying attention, and if having my fogs on catches someone from pulling out in front of me or hitting my car and protects mine or my familes life then write me the ticket.

- Q:Why do the lights look like the twinkle at night?
- Have you ever looked at a hot patch of pavement, and noticed how the ground seems to waver around a little bit? This is because the hot rising air has all sorts of minute differences in density because of the varying temperatures. The different densities in the air cause the light to change speeds just a little bit, and refract it along changing trajectories. Your eye perceives this as movement. The atmosphere has the same thing happening, but it's not pronounced enough to be seen by the human eye on large objects like the clouds or the Moon and Sun. Stars are so far away, though, that they appear as single points of light. Even the tiny refractions caused by the atmosphere are enough to disrupt their appearance. That's why they twinkle. - Q:I read in a magazine that blue light (from skiing;blue goggles) can cause macular degeneration. I'mn worried about this because I usually sleep under blue light from a light bulb. Is this hazardous to my eyes? Is red light safer? Does (sleeping under) red light cause damage to your eyes?
- Blacklights can cause eye damage because they emit ultraviolet light. Only if the LEDs emit a lot of ultraviolet light will they cause any trouble, and then you would have to be exposed to them for quite a long time. While it's not a good idea to overdo anything, (so... don't overdo it!) I wouldn't be concerned about eye damage from a string of holiday lights.
- Q:Ok, so a couple weeks ago, I bought this awesome lighter for like a dollar. Now its out of fluid :( I know it seems stupid, but I reallly like this lighter! lol but I bought the lighter fluid at WalMart and I put it in the lighter, but it doesnt work. Also, it didnt work in any other lighters. I did it the way I was told, by moving the little arm on the bottum of the lighter, and putting the little tip in there and filling it. But I dont get a flame from any of the lighters. Am I doing something wrong?
