Q:What role does the neutral wire play?
An electrical circuit requires at least two wires, whether it be ac or dc. In mains ac, one of the wires is connected to ground for safety. This is called the neutral. So the circuit will still work without the neutral connected to ground but not be so safe. The reason the neutral makes it safer is that a current will flow in the event of a fault on the hot wire and cause the protection (fuse or breaker) to operate.
Q:I have a 300 watt pioneer home stereo and four 15speakers that are250 watts each would it be ok to use this wire i just bought here is the link was wanting to know if it was ok to use if it seas car stereo wire thanks
yeah thats fine they will work. do suggest some monster speaker cable over that but what you have there in the link will work.
Q:What good would it do to change my spark plugs and wires would it be a good idea for a 86 year of a car they've never been changed before I was wondering would it help the car out thanks for the help
complicated subject. check out over bing and yahoo. that can help!
Q:what size of wire do i need and is the new fuse box/trip box kept in garage.or where can i get wiring diagrams from
Home supply stores sell books with instructions for wiring projects. In North America, install two additional branch circuits; use 12 gauge NM-B wire for outlets (remember to put a GFI as the first outlet on the network), with a 20 amp breaker; use either 12 or 14 gauge wire for lighting circuits. (Use a 15 amp breaker if you use 14 gauge.) The feeder cables get run from the garage to the main breaker box; if there isn't room for two additional breakers there, replace a couple of the existing breakers with duplex breakers.
Q:can a positive wire connect a negative and positive terminal together, or can a negative wire connect a positive and negative terminal together? This is regard to speakers in a guitar speaker cabinet. using rca speaker wire which is two wires that can be separated. One is positive and the other negative. If you are only using one half of the wire to wire two speakers in series does it matter if it is the positive(the side with the white stripe) or negative one since wiring in series is positive terminal to negative terminal.
Wire is wire. There is no positive wire and no negative wire. The wires are colour coded so you can keep track of what connects to what. You can use orange and green wires if you want; just keep track of what you are connecting.
Q:Is high quality CAT-5 ok to wire surround sound speakers to the receiver?
Noooo! Bad idea! Cat 5 is telecommunications wire, and typically designed to carry high frequency, low voltage, low power signals (i.e., network data). There are also typically four pairs of wire twisted at different numbers of turns per foot under that pretty blue jacket. These factors combine to make cat 5 a reeeally bad choice for speaker wire, and if you have big juicy amps, it might even burn your house down when it goes white-hot and sets itself on fire. If ya gotta go cheap, use 18 guage zip cord, which is insulated much better and has lots of copper strands to carry power. It usually has some marking or pattern on one side so you can keep your polarity (+ and -) straight. That's vital because your bass and your surround sound accuracy will be way bad if you get some of your speakers hooked up backwards. This may sound a bit whacked, but a good rule of thumb is to spend about 20% of the value of your gear on cables- they carry the information that eventually hits your ears as sound waves- and if any set of connections is bad, you lose quality and impact before you ever even hear it. It's tragic. If you don't believe this, go to a decent A/V store and do blind tests with good gear and different interconnects and speaker cables. It makes a difference- which is why I make my own interconnects...buts that's another question. Hope this helps.
Q:i have a 2002 pontiac sunfire where is my ground wire located? what does it look like?
Ground wire for what?
Q:I need to buy some electrical wire for my car, does it matter what color the copper wire is inside of ( i.e. black, yellow, red, green, blue, etc.)
Well, keeping your colors straight will definitely make your wiring easier to understand later on. Red should got to the positive side, black to the negative. Any other colors are more or less up to you. What actually matters more is choosing the right gage of wire for the job. If your wire is too thin for the current going through it, it will melt quite quickly and possible start a fire. Make sure you know what gage you need before you start, and don't try to go cheap. Hope this helps!
Q:A thin wire connected to a light bulb will have the bulb shine dimmer than a thicker wire. What is the scientific reasoning for this?
Thin wires are usually used to make heat because there is more resistance going through a thin wire. In an incandesent bulb 60% OF THE OUTPUT IS HEAT. If thee is thicker wire, more electrons go through and the light can be brighter.
