Q:I'm only asking this on here out of interest, this is not homework. I want to know how to calculate exact distances between to poles connected at the top by a cable. The length or height of the objects are not important to me, but if you must use an example please do so. So I want to know what formulas to use, what variables in those formulas mean, and how the slope of the cable will affect the distance. For example, if two poles have a distance between them of 0, and the cable extends 100, it would not mean that the drop of the cable (called a catenary?) would be 50, (it's misleading because you would think that since the distance between the two poles is 0, the cable would drop 50 and rise 50. But this is not taking into account the slope it has to take at the bottom of the catenary. It must lose some drop (perhaps to 48 or 49) in order to bend and rise back up...I want this out of my head, it's bugging me that I can't figure it out.
So you want the length along the cable? I honestly don't know how to compute the arc length of a catenary, but I'm sure that the power company knows how to do it because they need to know how much cable it will take to string up a whole line of poles. Your example doesn't work only because you impose a physically impossible constraint (zero distance between the poles - the poles have no thickness) and then try to impose physical reality (the cable can't bend instantaneously) on the problem. In the physically unrealizable problem, yes the cable does drop 50 ft because it is infinitely bendable. You're dealing with hyperbolic sines and cosines. Good luck
Q:I am missing pin 20 for my ATX motherboard power connector (which is normal). But I am also missing pinouts and a few wires from other connectors like PCI-e, Peripheral connectors, and even SATA connectors. But here is the thing, all the missing pinouts go INTO the POWER SUPPLY? So are all these intentional, or is it a flaw? Thanks!
It is very common for some pins in a standard connector to be unused on certain devices, especially power connections, because there are always redundant pins to the same power connection.
Q:cable or do they need certain ones, I ask because this PSU: has no power cable with it so will i have to get a certain power cable for that wattage or are they all the same???please answer, 10 points for first answer
all psu's ( even the ebuyer one) will use the same 3 pin cable.....just like the one most monitors use :) ...but uf u dont have any of these 3 pin power cables ur gnna have to buy one here is an image of one
Q:I just finished building my shed, I put a 1 1/2 inch conduit under the shed coming up into the corner. I am now about to dig the 65 foot trench back to the house. I need to run power, not a problem. I want to run a phone line, a network cable, and a cable wire for my satellite. I say shed but it is 12 by 20 feet with an attic. Can I run these additional lines in with the power. I was thinking about using a run of Shielded cables for the network and one for the phone. For the cable some heavy duty quot;I don't know what thoughquot;. Will the power lines mess the data up on them? What will work for the three if any. If I need to I could run them in a new conduit, but that is not cheap!
First, contact the diggers hotline and let them know when you will be digging. They will come out and mark any buried lines with flags. Run the electrical in the proper, approved conduit (to code). Run the phone line in its own conduit. The network and satellite run together in their proper conduit. A few bucks extra is worth it when you realize that the interference on the television is caused by running them all together. Right?
Q:My power cord for my computer and all usb cables i have seen have these cylindrical things on them. What do they do?
Those devices are for supressing RF interference to external devices. The high data rates, tend to create signals just like transmitters, which can interfere, with you TV, cordless phone, stereo system, etc.
Q:I need to resolve a debate- is there a power/telephone line under the sea running between the UK and USA? Or is the communication just done by satellite?
Satellite lol If there was a cable some kind of fish or something would of cut it by now.
Q:I'm installing aftermarket amp and subwoofers in the trunk. I currently as a temporary fix ran the cable outside and in through the passenger door on the car, then under the carpet to the trunk. Is there a break in the firewall anywhere that I can put it through instead? Thanks for your help!
well honestly im not familiar with preludes but what you do is pull the carpet down a little under the gas and brake pedel the should be a clearing spot in the fire wall from steering colum speedo cable or electrical. it wont look like much of hole but there will be a rubber plug take a flathead and scoot it out then run your power cable through that-wraping it with protective cover where it will lie in the firewall(so it dont cut the plastic and short something out) then tuck all the wires under the carpet along the runningboards. be patient it takes a while but in the end when you can see no wires it looks great
Q:I have recently purchased a SAPPHIRE 100228L Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X HDCP Ready Video Card.
should have come with a power cable. sometimes these are hidden in a compartment inside the box. take all the inner cardboard out. It would be pretty unusual for one of these cards to ship without the cable.
Q:I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW POWER SUPPLY CABLE/ADAPTER AT THE MOMENT.CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE.
Handycam Camcorders do not draw power from USB. You need to purchase a replacement power supply cable. If you take the camcorder to a place like Best Buy or Radio Shack, you can likely get a new cable for very little money (although it won't be the official Sony cable).
Q:I have a two year old HP Compaq 6710s laptop, and since yesterday, the second I plug in my power cable, my CPU usage goes up from a normal amount to 100% immediately, making my computer really really slow. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Do you think there's something wrong with the cable or the computer?
In most laptop configurations there are things that are setup to run only when the laptop is plugged in. For example, antivirus scans, adware scans, and such can be set so that they only run when plugged in. It is possible that the unit has been unplugged for awhile and the system suddenly recognizes its plugged in and all the software tries to run thus bogging it down. This is only a hypothesis. The best way to know for sure is to check the Task Manager to find out whats hogging everything. If you don't know, you can open the task manager by either doing CTRL-ALT-DELETE and selecting task manager or by going Start-Run and type in 'taskmgr'. In the window, the applications tab should show what apps are running, the Processes tab should show you all the processes and their memory consumption, and the Performance tab should show you all your memory and CPU untilization. I would start with the Processes tab and see what is consuming the most memory. You can sort by size by clicking on the MemUsage column heading. The processes with the highest memory are the ones to start with. ALso check the Applications tab and see what is running at the time. I would check these while running on battery, and then plug the system in and check them again to see what is different. Whatever has changed is most likely the culprit.
