Q:How do you deal with water stains on woolen carpets soaked in water?
Carpet stains, dirt classification:A. water-based and dry stains, dirtMost of carpet stains are water-based and dry substances, including dust, sand, starch, soft drinks, tea, fruit juice stains, dirt accounted for about 80%-85%, especially for fine dust, life and work off, mostly adhere to the carpet surface. Larger dirt particles fall into the supporting layer.B. oil base stains, dirt (which includes moving and vegetable oils, cosmetics, shoe polish, ballpoint pens, oils, etc.).C. protein base stains, dirt (which includes blood, vomiting, urine, food products), these two types of stains, dirt, accounting for about 15/20%.
Q:Also... what would be cheaper? Carpet, carpet tile, or laminate?I ask because these stupid companies (Lowes, Home Depot, etc) keep making it seem like there's a difference between carpet and carpet tile and it seems like carpet tile is cheaper. Why would it be cheaper? It actually seems like it would cost less than laminate but I have absolutely no idea why or what to look for.I'm looking for new flooring for my living room.
it is easier for a non experienced person to install. I prefer wall to wall over tile.
Q:I have this OLD area rug from my grandmother. The pattern is beautiful and the rug itself is is good condition, however I'd like to brighten it up! -Especially the white areas which have now gone yellow. Anyone have any ideas on how to clean/treat this rug and restore/brighten it without damaging it with harsh chemicals, like bleach?
Take the rug to a professional that deals with older rugs ie.orientals and persians. If you do it yourself, you can easily damage the fibers.
Q:There's a nice hole in the carpet that's pretty deep. How do you fix it?
If you have a piece of the carpet available for a patch, you can do that quite easily. First, be sure none of the padding is missing - if it is, you'll need to fill that in first and then do the following: Cut a piece of sturdy cardboard into a circle (a square has corners, and corners are a no-no for patches - they tend to lift). Use that template carefully mark your carpet (you can trim back/shave the carpet itself within the space that will be cut to make it easier to manage) then trim the hole in the carpet to that shape. Don't freak out - it's MUCH easier to patch when they are both the same size it's easier this way rather than trying to trace the shape of the current hole - trust me! Once that is done, use the template again and (using a sharpie) draw a circle on the back of the spare piece of carpet for the patch. Cut the patch approximately 1/2 BIGGER than the template all the way around trying to keep it as uniform as you can. Take your scissors and trim away the carpet fibers from the outside edge of the patch up to the borderline of the template mark (the line you drew on the back of the patch piece). Slip the patch underneath the hole in the carpet so the 1/2 of bare backing is underneath the carpet, and the carpet fibers are coming up through the hole, filling it in. Use a hot glue gun and very carefully lift up the edge of the carpet apply glue between the carpet itself the lip of the patch. Press down as you go (using foil to protect your hands) all the way around the hole. I sure hope I explained this to where it's understandable! I've done it before (thanks to our dog who chewed three holes in our carpet when he was a pup) and it works beautifully no one knows where the patches are!
Q:I shampooed my carpet and now have lumps that have risen in the middle of the room?
The carpet will lay back down in a couple of days, on its own. The problem does go back to the original installation however, as it was poorly done.
Q:is there anything you can buy at walmart to get rid of a bleach stain on my carpet?? almost all of my room is bleached because my mom is stupid!!! is there any product to cover the bleach up?
Not a very nice thing to say about your mother. Bleach does not stain. (Now who looks soooooo smart) It has no color, it is a color remover. Nothing you can do to fix it on carpet but remove the carpet or replace it.
Q:how do I find out how much its worth?
What are commonly known as persian rugs are actually made in wide ranging locales in eastern Europe, Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. You might do a Yahoo search for persian rugs and get lucky enough to identify the pattern of your rug, but it will take the eye of an expert to give you definitive information. Best bet is to take your rug to a reputable rug dealer in your area. They will be able to identify the rug, determine age and origin, assess condition, recommend cleaning and preservation, and assess its' value. Good luck with your search for information.
Q:My family room carpet is gross and my husband is too cheap to buy hardwood, he says quot;its finequot;...ive bleached carpet before by mixing with water and using my pool scrub pole, it helps or should i rip it up? i rather walk on concrete than this carpet !
Bleach is really toxic.. might be better just to have concrete. I hate carpets too, everything clings to them and the carpet cleaners are hopeless.
Q:How to do if the carpet mildews?
It will induce asthma and allergic rhinitis. These little creatures especially love to take the body dander as food. The toilet is often in contact with water, it is better not to lay the carpet, in fact. 2. 3, The invasion of the human body. Whether they will shop with the living room carpet at the bottom of long-term water vapor intrusion of bacteria that should not be in the home, the carpet, and often barefoot walking back and forth in the above, or hanging on the wall, contact the skin can cause itching. Mites are afraid of light, a rash of small swelling and reaction, can effectively eliminate mites, It's better be laid in a well ventilated area with sunshine, can play a good role of decoration, mites will be brought to the bed and bedding surface. Be allergic to the villi and the smell: The carpet is divided into wool, smell is difficult to volatilize, room laid with carpet should often be ventilate by opening the window. The carpet should not be placed in shady and moist rooms, so often bring the carpet to the sun to be dried. Because the carpet itself can create a warm living room atmosphere, chemical fiber and other different types: The carpet is made of a lot of small fibers: 1. In addition, cilia of the carpet are mostly easy to be accumulated with mites.
Q:could i turn my highland out in winter with a summer turnout/sheet with a rambo fleece underneath ( best fleece on the market ) because hes a highland i dont want him caked in thick heavy turnouts. i just think a summer turnout would be enough to keep the snow off his fleece which is really what i want. i will only use this method on snowy/frosty days.
Yeah maybe. But the thin rug may rip easily if he rolls on frosty ground and catches himself, or the snow may melt in the middle of the night and the water will seep through the rug and soak the fleece. You would be better off buying a proper turnout rug. Just use a old summer sheet and see if it works, if not, buy a turnout rug. Good luck! x x :)
