Q:How Do I Install Carpet, I just installed the wood tacking boards and new foam padding. and now am lost as what to do next.

People ALWAYS mess things up! Sounds like they're either interfering with whatever connection you have, either between the computer and your electrical source (most likely) OR between your tower and monitor. Check the connections on the back of your computer, then in your walls, etc. If they're fine, then complain to your neighbors! Why let THEM ruin your computer??

Q:we are renting a place and the folks that lived their were to say the least,wasn't very nice to the carpet.there are a few bad spots left from the cleaning,landlord want put in new carpet so any Ideas on how to do something besides just covering it up with a room size rug,which I could do,anyone else had this problem?

The best thing to do with bad carpet is to correct it's behavior. If you have the bad spots left from the carpet cleaning. You should call the carpet cleaning company back to fix those spots. If they use spotters that have surfactants in it. (resolve, Woolite etc.) They leave a sticky residue when they dry. First thing you want to do is get some club soda and some white terry cloth towels. Pour some club soda on the bad spots and rub the terry towels forward and backwords then left and right. This will get all four faces of the carpet. That should take care of the dark spots or at least take the residue off the carpet. Look at your towel if it is black or dirty repeat till it is not. If that does not work. There is a spotter at home depot called Stain Extinguisher by chem dry. It has no surfactants and will not set a stain or damage your carpets. Robert

What is just as important as the machine, is the cleaning solution and method used to clean the carpet. I've found Rug Doctor brand cleaning supplies to be the best and most economical. Note: Never use products that are not specifically designed for use on carpet. As far as methodology goes, you want to pretreat any stains with an appropriate stain remover. Organic stains require an enzymatic stain remover such as Natures Miracle. After stains are addressed, you pretreat the entire area to be cleaned, either with Natures Miracle, a pretreatment solution, or with Oxy Clean Crystals (make a solution and apply with a spray bottle ). Work the pretreatment into the carpet fibers with a stiff brush. From there you simply use the carpet cleaning machine as per the manufacturer's instructions, though you'll want to use less cleaning solution since you've already got pretreatment on the floor. You may need an anti-foaming agent OR pay close attention to the recovery tank on the machine and empty it before sudsing can be drawn into the motor. Once you've cleaned the carpet with cleaning solution, go back over the whole area with clean hot tap water to rinse. The color of the extraction will tell you if further rinsing is required. Be careful not to over saturate the carpet while cleaning or rinsing, as excess moisture will cause odors and mold/mildew.

Q:The bed set I want is dark purple with a black zebra design on it, and most the things in my room are purple or turning purple. My walls are tan and will have to stay that way for awhile. So what color would look good with my bedset and room, I dont really want like a zebra patterned rug, but if you think it would look good tell me! Thanks!

The zebra rug would only look good if it matched exactly to your bed set. But since your gonna have a lot of purple in your room (from your stuff) i suggest a black rug, i know it sounds kind of plain and simple but i dont see how any other color would go besides purple. But it sounds cute!(:

Q:When we finally peeled it off, it left behind all the stuff that was under it including pieces of the fuzzy part. Anyone know what I can use to get it off?? Right now my hubbs and I are scraping it off but it is taking forever. Thanks in advance!!

I would say go to the store and get an all purpose cleaner. Spray or pour it onto the surface and let it soak in. This should help a lot.

Q:Yesterday morning the toilet supply line to our toilet burst, and as a result we had crazy flooding. I would say close to half the carpet in our 2 bedroom apartment was drenched, with the neighbors downstairs getting a lot of the extra water.Anyways, they have removed a lot of the padding and set up fans under the carpet to dry it. Here almost two days later the carpet is close to dry, but this places reeks of that lovely mildew smell.....Everyone I have talked to said they should have just replaced the carpet. Do you think we can request they do it if the smell persists?

There are no rules on the subject of while a landlord could replace a carpet. as long as a tenant will settle for the carpeting in place, the owner choose no longer replace it. in the experience that your animals urinated (somewhat the cat) on the carpets, those odors could be confusing to do away with. If the odors can not be eradicated, then the owner can use your cleansing expenditures, plus element of your protection deposit to swap the carpet. in many circumstances, a landlord can not fee the whole fee for carpet alternative, as he could depreciate' the fee of the carpet based upon its age and utilization.

Q:Life span is 5 years on this bright white carpet. They lived here 2 years before us, and didnt replace the carpets before we moved in, and we lived here for 2 years.. Meaning the carpet is currently 4 years old out of the 5year life span. We did normal wear and tear, and we did make a few spots but nothing huge or horribly bad. Anyways, they want us to pay for the whole carpet cost. Is that right?Were in minnesota

Judges in my area use a 7 year life on carpet. It really depends on the quality of carpet and how long it should last. Nylon carpet is better than olefin and lasts longer, but is more expensive and will last longer and clean better. In the same vain, my state puts only a 2 years life on interior paint in a rental. Have you had a professional carpet cleaning company see if they can clean it and get the spots out? If the spots are from dirt that would be more in line with normal wear an tear. If the spots are from pets stains, food, and spills that is not normal. No matter what, you should not be charged for the entire cost of a new carpet, but depreciate the carpet no less than 50%.
