- Q:so i have this furry rug and by furry i mean like it looks like it something that would be attached to your hoodie, and it's black... so i was wondering on how to vacuum and or clean the feathers off it because it's way to big to take outside and shake it all off
- I also have a very furry rug, but mine is white. You could vacuum it and use that special tube thingy on the vacuum to get certain spots it works great, that's what I use. BUT mine is very small so you might also be able to just vacuum straight over it lol
- Q:Baby had a ball with foundation in bathroom. Cleaned everything but the rug. It's vanilla-colored, and is 100% cotton. Any hope?
- I am assuming this is just a bathroom throwrug, so there shouldn't be any reason why you couldn't just throw it in the washer. I would also think if you use the makeup remover cloths (like you use on your face) before washing, that should loosen up and dissolve it so it will rinse out in the wash. It is gently enough to use on your face- so it should be gentle enough for your rug. A laundry pretreatment like Oxi-clean, and regular detergeant with a non-chlorine bleach should get the rest out. The big worry with 100% cotton is if it will shrink in the dryer- but I've not had a bathroom rug do that if I used low heat until it was just damp dry, and then hung it to air dry completely. Look at the back and see if there is a care tag to say if it can be dried or not. If all else fails, and you are left with a few spots stained, maybe you could consider doing a dye job, a shade darker- to cover. Good luck with the cleaning. I have six kids, and long ago gave up on white and beige anything for just this reason!
- Q:whenever I have this small flufy rug out, my cat quot;who is fixedquot; tries to sneak in when I'm not there and piss on it. He knows he is not supposed to do that because he won't try to do that when I am in the room. I have to put the rug up to where he cant get to it or he'll piss on it.
- I have the same problem with the bathroom rug. I think there is something very pleasing about the padded area for urination. Keep the rug up for now. Keep your litter box very clean and accessible. Establish the habit of only using the box for a while. Then try the rug down again. Also keep the rug very clean. Any odor of dirt or moisture will attract him. Good luck.
- Q:I'm trying to find a bright sky blue rug that's about 3 feet by 5 feet. Hopefully for less than 50 bucks?
- These okorder /
- Q:I recently rented a condo and the carpets were filthy. Used my Bissell in February and March to clean it. It looks better, but I still see dirt stains. Is it safe to shampoo it once a month until its clean?
- Vinegar will not harm a carpet. Think about having it cleaned by a carpet cleaner and then you can maintain it. Household cleaning machines can cause faster staining since they leave the carpet too wet for too long
- Q:I have this OLD area rug from my grandmother. The pattern is beautiful and the rug itself is is good condition, however I'd like to brighten it up! -Especially the white areas which have now gone yellow. Anyone have any ideas on how to clean/treat this rug and restore/brighten it without damaging it with harsh chemicals, like bleach?
- I would reccomend taking it to a professional antique restorer. It would suck to mess up something that is that important to you. Also, the dyes may be natural-made dyes, and might be damaged if you used chemicals on it.
- Q:My diningroom and livingroom are together so I've painted them a nice yellow...and my trim is wood most of my furniture is oak and I have wood flooring, what color rug would fit perfect with my living-dining area?? And any suggestions on where I can find a good price for one?
- Since you have warm tones, go with a pretty sage green, rust, or brown rug. I don't know where you live, but Kohls has some nice ones. JCPenney does too.
- Q:well? will it be able to keep the door shut on carpets?
- It will work better because a door wedge uses friction in order to hold a door in place and it would have much better grip on most carpet types, depending on the material the wedge is made of. Any wedge with a bit of a rough surface or made of rubber will work as well or better on most carpets than it would on a smooth floor, whether it's concrete or wood. The key is to have the proper size, slope, and texture, so a little experimentation may be in order.
- Q:okay where can i find either a girraffe or polar bear rug.
- I have never heard of a Girraffe coat or rug or a Polar Bear coat however, to find a Polar Bear Rug now may be very difficult and expensive but I would try the yellow pages in my community and call all the furriers listed especially if they sell Fur skins. You could even try the fur auctions such as the North Bay Fur Auction. Sorry I don't have a number.
- Q:Our house is currently covered in carpet. We have a dog who sheds and has occasional accidents in the carpet. I'm debating whether or not to switch to hardwood floors. I would like to to the floating because of cost. Does anyone have advice? Should I stick it out with carpet? Is wood that much easier?
- Hardsurface flooring would be better to have than carpet especially if you have pets around the house...not only are they earier to clean, they are much more hygenic. Carpets will accumulate dust and promote molds that can cause respiratory problems for the those who live there, and those who come to visit. Since carpet absorbs liquid, the smell of pet's urine won't be that easy to remove from it. I've encountered people who have been trying to get rid of the smell of pet urine even after a month that the carpet has been taken out... it costed them a lot of time, money, and effort jsut to get the bad smell out. The more if uric acid has affected the subfloor (even concrete), you cannot just lay another flooring on top as the smell would still permeate throughout the house. If you are to do a floating hardwood floor, apply a water-proof adhesive (like Bruce Everseal) at the tongue and groove so that even dog pee wouldn't seep through the cracks. Damages will occur if it happens as the liquid will not evaporate, thus the boards can warp. I am unsure how big your pet is but choose floors that are with aluminum oxide finish, they help prevent scratches. There are certain wood floors that are with a high janka rating (or hardness rating) which would be harder to dent as well... mostly are exotics that can be almost 3x as hard as White Oak. It is advisable that you also trim your pet's nails regularly:) Always remember that if you'd plan to re-sell your house in the future, hardwood floors will always increase its value.
