Q:I want to ride in the rain and not destroy my bearings, so should I get Bones Red Ceramics? They're a bit expensive, but oh well.1. How often do I have to clean them?2. For free-riding and downhill, should I switch to regular Red bearings?
do no longer trouble with ceramics, merely get some white lithium grease and coat the bearings in it. additionally, unfastened spin does no longer propose something. My bearings all spin for decrease than 5 seconds, does not trouble me any.
Q:I will clean them every once in a while, but if i go boarding on a day where the road is wet, is it essential to dry the bearings when I am done?I have bones swiss bearings.
ANY bearing will rust of they get wet but this is constantly getting wet so don't fear
Q:just wondering if anyone has changed the front bearings has am gonna attempt it tomorrow has mine has gone i have done the backs before they where easy don't know whats involved in doing the fronts any advice would be grateful thanks
A lot depends on the type of bearing. Generally, you can get the bearing out either with a press, or if you do not have a press or access to a press, you can use a tube or socket of near the right size and push them out with this and the use of a hammer. Before you do this, heat the metal surrounding the bearing to expand the housing to facilitate the extraction of the bearing. Nip into LOWS; go to the plumbers section and purchase gas-blowtorch. This will help heating t he metal surrounding the bearing. DO NOT HEAT THE BEARING ITSELF, okay. Once out, the replacement is simple. Again, heat the metal to help the bearing slip in easier. Use a piece of wood to tap the bearing in with a hammer to tap and seat the new bearing in. Good to go .. Best wishes, Dr Antony (45 years of doing it myself)
Q:Why do so many large railroads (ie,class I) flat out refuse to let rolling stock that has friction bearings, from operating or (at the very least) being moved across their system(s), even if the equipment is maintained in a better condition than roller bearing items of the same type/vintage?I appreciate all insight, -- Thanks in advance!
Friction = heat Heat = fire possibility Fire possibility - liability of railroad Another item to consider -- roller bearings have been used for so long, I don't think there's anyone left of any railroad that knows how to repair friction bearings.
Q:I currently own a 2009 Lightning Long SS, it has just a bit over 5000 miles on it. I was riding it down the freeway the other day and the rear end started to wag around and progressively get worse. When I got it to the shop I looked at the rear wheel and the bearings on the right side where the belt is were ground up and gone, just metal shavings. So my question is, should/could that have happened on its own without anyone screwing with my bike or a mechanic messing something up when I got my tires changed or during the regular maintenance? My riding habits are normal, I have never laid it down and it has been in for all its regular maintenance.ThanksScott
Wheel okorder /... A motorcycle is like your significant other. You don't want any one else fondling her and you definitely don't want someone else riding her. Buy a shop manual, watch Youtube videos and learn to fix your own bike.
Q:how to replace front wheel bearings on AWD vehicles?
Most AWD vehicles use a sealed front hub. Meaning the bearings are not replaceable and the hub assembly requires replacement. Depending on the vehicle... a sealed unit can be replaced with basic hand tools in a driveway. Simply unbolt the wheels, brake callipers, remove the rotors, remove the front (CV shaft / axle) retaining nut, unbolt the hub. Reverse the order to install. If you are referring to a full size pickup style... I would recommend you have a mechanical back ground. The reason is because you will be replacing the bearings. You must know how to pack bearings with grease (unless it is a oil bearing, which means you are doing hub seals also). You must know how to install and torque the bearings, or you will have premature bearing failure... worst case scenario, the wheels fall off while driving on the road. Good luck with repairs
Q:i have repaired the wheel bearings (outer) how do i do the inners?
The older replaceable inner/ outer wheel bearings come in a box with the bearing and it's race that the bearing turns on. You need to replace both the race and bearing. The old races have to be driven out with a brass drift and the new races driven back in. Take the wheel to a shop and they will install the new races. You also will need a new grease seal on the inner bearing.
Q:There are some bearing that I was looking at and one says ABEC 5 and naother says ABEC 7, what is the difference and is there better ones and recomand which ones are better. Thank you.
the difference is the speed
Q:I have a 1992 Camaro RS, LO3 305 TBI V8, Automatic, 125k miles. It had the oil changed awhile ago, not sure what they put in it, but when I picked it up, the engine was ticking (sounded like a lifter or failing oil pump). I've driven it a few thousand miles and it runs good and strong, but I've always noticed that the oil pressure guage reads low, between 5-25 psi. I'm concerned my bearings are shot. It normally starts up at 25psi and after driving 10-20 minutes, it reads 5-10 psi, and the ticking becomes slower. The engine never kills though. Could it just be a case of a bad sending unit, with to light of a weight of oil, or bad bearings? What are some common signs of bad bearing? The motor does not knock.
if your bearings are bad your engine would be knocking and would soon stop. it sounds like your bearings are worn which would give you low oil pressure. I would run the oil made for older engines that have wear like yours.and by the way try not to beat it to much it'll last a little longer
Q:What bearings should a beginner have on their skateboard?
the free ones unless your looking for speed i remember my first skateboard, i had some bones reds and they were too fast so i tightened them up to make them slower lol and now their the worst ever. but if you want some good ones then you need to know how to clean them and take them off your wheels first.
