This is a common problem with the technology. Our shop charges 150.00 to resolder the jack on. You have to completely remove the motherboard from the case inorder to properly fix the jack. This problem will repeat with time so extra care should be taken then using AC Power.

Hard disks typically use the 4-pin molex connectors. I can see at least two free in your picture. Basically just use the one that fits, there should only be one that fits anyway.

Q:I'm trying to install a GeForce GTX 460. It came with a supplemental power supply cord, one end goes into the card, and there are 2 heads on the other end, and i can only find 1 place to plug in a single head into my power supply... When i turn the computer on the fan on the card turns on so i assume enough power is being given to the card, yet when i log in and put in the Installation disk, it says quot;not foundquot;... i already locked the card in, and i tried re adjusting the card multiple times but that doesn't do anything so i'm sure putting in the card incorrectly isn't the case. help! :(
You are taking a chance of burning up your PSU and your card. The card might perform ok under basic desktop situations, but when you try to game it is going to drain your PSU for all the power it can get and probally fry the +3Volt rail that the single molex connector is on that you pluged the PCIEx16 6pin pigtail up to. This might even cause a short of your motherboard and or ram on the motherboard, and could even lead to a frying of the CPU as well. Or maybe not, just a chance you are taking...
Q:My 4 gauge power cable is hooked up to the battery's positive terminal and the other end to my amplifier's terminal. Is it safe to accidentally touch the ring terminal (end) of this power cable? I won't feel any electrical shock or anything will I?
You can touch it but do not hit any metal with it or you can unhook your battery

Aluminum is a good conductor that is also inexpensive and lightweight. Those are excellent properties for overhead power cables. Unfortunately, aluminum does not have the greatest tensile strength. So to provide strength to the cable, some iron (in the form of steel) is used as well.
Q:Hi,I have this Corsair TX 750W PSU and one of the cable have 3 x4pins connectors on it. i use one of the 4pins connector on this cable to power 6 fans on my case and the other two 4pins connectors i use one to connect to two ssd drives and other connector to the IDE 1.5TB hdd. do you think that this single cable is under stress to power up all 9 items? is there rule about psu cable? i am asking this because i thought maybe the psu is affecting my gtx 670 sli performance. i get P11000 score and X5006 using 3dmark 11. so it is a bit low. i should get arouynd P16000+.i have i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz w HT and pc3200 16GB. i hope someone can point out the low score issue and power supply cable question.. i am currently running drivers 320.49
A computer power supply is really several supplies in the same box. The specs will tell you if those 4-pin connectors all go to the same place. The outputs for the graphics card come from a different source than those 4-pin Molex connectors so those aren't going to affect performance. You would have to add up the current draw for all of the fans and the drives to know if the power supply is being overloaded. The fans have the current draw printed on them so write them down and add them up. But if you are paranoid, open the case and disconnect the case fans. Also disconnect the drives you aren't using. SSD's don't draw nearly as much power as a HDD so try to disconnect the hard drive if you can. Then run the test again and it should be exactly the same.
Q:I was wondering if it is possible to have flat power cables as i want to place my hdtv on the wall but don't want the power cable trailing down so that it looks like its levitating (i suppose anyway). I also want to do this for my mini hi-fi, as that is on a supporting wall and feeding wires through that is either not viable and/or out of my electrical range. I live in the UK, so would prefer a national company as opposed to foreign.
Hi Allotted, The best thing to do is cut into the wall and run the cables down the inside. By the time you have power, DVD/VCR, cable connection and a dozen other things you have a huge bundle of cables. Cut a opening behind the TV and run the wires down the inside to the floor. Make an opening to bring them out there. I did mine like that and while it took some effort the results were a great looking installation. Norm
Q:Ok, my pc and monitor have the same socket for a power cable, and i mixed the two cables up, but one has a 5 amp fuse and one has a 10 amp fuse... What one goes where??
put the ten amp on monitor, but doesn't matter either way is fine.
