There are pads you can get to put under the rug to keep it from sliding around. They make them to use on carpet as well as on tile. They are relatively inexpensive, can be cut to size, and work really well. Check at a carpet store.

Q:We have a fairly large area rug in our living room but over time it has become wrinkled. I don't want to buy a new one yet, so how can we get it to lay flat against the carpet and not bunch up with stubborn wrinkles anymore?

Hang the rug up if you can and spray it with water and see if you can work the wrinkles out by pulling of them. Good Luck

Q:I bought a turquoise accent rug from target and it's bleeding onto my tile. The label says spot clean only but if I put it in the washing machine will all of the color come out? Is there any other way to clean it?

Hmm. I have bought the same type of rug only in a dark blue with the note to spot clean. I had the same thing happen except on linoleum. I didn't really pay much for it so I thought I'd try washing it on a gentle cycle, the materials it was made from was pretty durable (don't know what yours is made of) so I washed alone and added vinegar to the wash (which is said will set the color). I washed mine on a medium load to make sure the water completely covered the rug, add the vinegar to the water as its filling. I poured mine in but if I had to guess I used about 2 cups and don't use detergent. I stopped the cycle and let the rug sit in the solution for about 1/2 hour then continued the wash cycle. I thought it did a good job. I used the vinegar/water wash a few times and noticed that it did help with the bleeding. Good luck whatever you end up doing.

Q:I have been instructed by my HOA to quot;Carpet all floorsquot; as I laid a vinyl plank and it's against HOA rules. Could I get away with laying carpet tiles over this? I have pets and I believe carpet tiles will work better as I can replace a tile if it becomes damaged.

Throw rug or a huge rug or wall-to-wall carpet? Ironing a rug may melt the fibers if it is a polyester fiber rug or carpet. I do not think that the iron with produce enough heat to reach the base of the rug fibers. IOW, not a good idea. What the linked sites recommend is steam cleaning, even a professional steam cleaning. Be sure to let the professional know your rugs have a flea infestation. The cost might be a couple hundred for a professional steam cleaning, but that is worth the cost to be rid of fleas . If you have small rugs you can run them through the a hot washer load, and depending on fabric, a dryer.

shaw carpet is good carpet 55 oz is great the most important thing is to get the best is a 8lb padding. you can cut cost on carpet but if you use the standard crap padding it wont felt as nice and your carpet will last about half as long as it would using the good padding.

Mold takes 3 days and warm temperatures to get started, they also require a food source. You should know that what you did was create a dirt/soil magnet with the soapy spray. All professionals will rinse the soap, called pre-spray, from the carpet fibers, using treated hot water and powerful vacuum extraction. Consider this a part of your education and do not repeat the attempted cleaning process that will end in dismal failure. A professional carpet using van mounted equipment and a rotary head cleaning machine, such as an RX20 or a Roto Vac 360, for best results and do this at least once a year.

I have a tan carpet and discovered that Woolite OxyDeep works wonders. Then you get a heavy duty carpet cleaner and a Bottle of Resolve and clean away. If that doesn't work then you are probably going to have to get a new carpet. And don't give up after the first try.....if it is as dirty as it sounds it is....you are going to have to go over it several times.
