Q:contractors creating custom faux stone walls?
Try hyperturfa (there are several sites with different formulas). Essentially, hyperturfa is a mixture of Portland cement, sifted peat, and one or two other substances from sand to the more lightweight perlite and/or vermiculite (the stuff horticulturists use in their potting soil), and/or silica (which helps give a finer texture). It is lightweight, depending upon your formula. You can purchase molds (moulds), or, make your own. I'm cheap :D, so I make molds out of old milk jugs that I have reshaped through heating in the oven or over a fire (I place them over a stone and they melt to the shape), or I make stone-shaped hollows in dirt or sand, and line (or not line, depending on my project) with plastic. When stiff but still workable, I make my finishing touches (smoothing out lines, adding texture, etc.) Individual stones can be affixed using more hyperturfa or regular cement/mortar. Standard concrete colorants and acid stains work, but I prefer natural colorants -- I use rusty water, coffee, tea, vinegar that has had steel wool fermenting for a few days, berry juices, etc. If using as a stucco or intend to create brick lines, or stone work it is advisable to use some sort of backing (chicken wire, etc.) as you would stucco or straight cement/mortar. (Although, I did apply a sand-based hyperturfa directly over unpainted, untreated raw concrete foundation blocks with no problem.) If this is not exactly what you are looking for.and if you do find what you are looking for.I'd certainly appreciate a heads up.
Q:What would be a good soil to keep my very small 1 inch Coast and Dawn and Giant Sequoias in? Would it be something like regular potting soil, vermiculite, or peat or something else? What soil should I keep them in? I know it should have acidity, but is regular Miracle Gro potting soil Acidy enough?
Shultz moisture plus soil. the power to deliver aad even out the moisture in the soil.
Q:How does the pH value of vermiculite adjust?
Warm baby is iron, vermiculite, activated carbon, inorganic salts, water and other synthetic mixture. Among them, vermiculite is another drop of NaOH solution, there is no obvious phenomenon at first, and the pH value of the solution is adjusted by pH test paper to make 7
Q:ok hi i have two common florida snapping turtle egg(they are oblong in shape) anmd i need to know IMEDIENTLY if i need to keep them warm or cold what degree i keep them at exactlyand how to care for the eggs
Keep them warm but not above 90 degrees F. Keep them moist but don't submerge them. Best set up is a platic box with vermiculite and water in equal amounts. Put eggs on top of vermiculite. If dents develop in the eggs in a few days, the egg is losing moisture and water must be added. Do not use tap water if it contains chloramine. Use bottled water if at all possible. Keep the container floating on top of a half-filled aquarium with an underwater heater and the thermostat set to about 85 degrees F. If weather gets too warm, put some ice cubes in the water to cool things down. Keep the lid covered so that flies cannot get in to lay eggs. Some flies can lay eggs and the larvae can burrow into the egg and eat the embryo. In a couple of months or perhaps a bit longer you will hopefully have some baby snappers.
Q:How do you incubate crested gecko eggs?
1) You have not mentioned the name of the mushroom . 2) There are different methods of their cultivation depending upon the type . 3 ) In any case, the procedure you have adopted is very unique and unheard of . 4 ) I have my reservations about it ! 5 ) By the way is it rice flower ? or rice flour ?
Q:I got my plant from a friends ivy and I was just wondering how I would go about cutting a new starter plant. thanks for any and all information!
There are various methods, each with a different success rate with different plants. I'd advise asking the friend the method he/she used as it is already proven with the plant. Another method is to simply use a metal hook to hold a branch to the soil of another pot. Takes a bit longer but works well for rosemary philodendrons.
Q:I caught the end of a program on tv the other day that showed a couple who had a greenhouse and said because they didn't use potting soil that they could use their space more efficiently and have more abundant crops.
Go to a builders merchant for vermiculite. In the UK Keyline and Jewson both supply big bags for about ten pounds. Otherwise they will sell it at any garden center, along with cow poo, although they will charge over the odds for the vermiculite.
Q:My daughter found what appear to be lizard eggs and we rescued them from being cushed by the dog before we looked it up on line. I am pretty sure we have flipped them. Is there anything we can do?
it jus matters srry for tht but put them in a inkubater and tht should help 3 cara
Q:working on incubating 11 red eared slider eggs - 3rd year in a row, but the temp. these days is colder outside. They are inside in vermiculite and peet moss and they have another 20 days to hatch, they are forming, but the temp is dropping from 86 degrees to 79 degrees. Any suggestions?
I have used a hovabator incubator to successfully incubate red ear eggs.
Q:I am making a substrate for germinating plants and they need the rice for its nutrient value. I messed up and let the pressure cooker cool down overnight and now I'm wondering if I should recook it... It has to remain perfectly sterile until I use it. What would happen if you pressure cooked --canned--someting twice? Any response appreciated.
