- Q:I have glazed porcelain tile to put in my bathroom, but the thing is... that is is only 1/4 of am inch thick... Is it still okay to use it?...
- glazed tiles are fine to use in the bathroom, the important thing to remember is if they are set properly and to set on either mortar base or hardiboard. the main concern though, would be whether the surface is too smooth a finish when used on the floor, especially when the tiles are wet! this could become a hazard to your health! a lot of tiles used in a floor application, have a sanded or rough finish ,just because of that !
- Q:I accidentally tiled over an outlet cover. What can I do to fix this issue with out having to remove all the tile?
- First you need to find the outlet. Go to Lowe's or H D and get an electrical tester that works on the principal of detecting power in the lines. This special tester will have no wires to touch, it looks like a large ink pen. Once you find the outlet just remove the tiles that need to be cut. Regards, Dale
- Q:Do you have, or know someone who has these tiles in the bathroom? What is their experience?
- It depends also how well they stick to the underlying surface. make sure surface is clean and dust free. I used a flooring recently that looks like 12 x 12 tile but the pieces are 12 x 36 and they have an overlay that sticks together. it is a floating floor. Has been trouble free. Good luck
- Q:i have vinyl tile in my dinning room(high traffic) its new but its not brillant ,and i saw a mantenance guy last night in wallmart using a buffer machine to pollish the tile..my question what kind of pad the used?they use any quimical with this pad?..how often this treatment its needed?
- Wash the floor first, then use a soft buffing pad and some floor wax.
- Q:Can you put linoleum over tile?
- NO!, u can not lay linoleum over tile..it requires a flat smooth surface to bond to.......if ceramic tile just clean them, many products at lowes that will do it,.......if stick on tile just apply new stick on tile but off set the joints from the old ones! lic. gen contractor

- Q:Kitchen is open to living area. Kitchen has tile already and living room has carpet. We want replace carpet wit hardwood if it look right, or should we just tile it all. Entry way from frony door is tile then living room begins with carpet then kitchen begins with tile.

- Q:Hi, I am thinking about placing vinyl wood planks over the existing ceramic tile in my house and I wanted to know if it‘s possible. The tile isn‘t completely level due to the grout and obviously not all the tiles are exactly the same height down to the millimeter. I wanted to know 1. Is it possible to install vinyl wood plank over ceramic tile, 2. If so how level the tile floor has to be, 3. How would I go about leveling the floor, with an underlayment or with some sort of mortar, 4. If I use an underlayment do I still need to use the mortar to level the tile?Thank you.
- While its always best to remove the tile and start with a fresh base for a new sub floor for the vinyl tile. This can be done .. You need to go over the tile with whats called an embossing leveler.. This will allow the vinyl to not show the grout lines. The high spots can be knocked down or floated so its barely noticeable. . By the time you do all this and the chance that you don t get any uneven tile floated out, your better off taking every thing out and do it proper. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. Tapping the tiles to pay attention to hear the sound is crisp, such as the sound clear, sweet for the top grade, such as the sound boring for the defective.
- Q:We have an installer, whom seems to be doing it wrong. I can‘t find any website that explains how to install tile the way he is doing it. Can you tell me if this sounds correct?First he puts mortar on the bare cement floor, then put down versa-bond or a bonding agent.. and then he puts more mortar on the tile and then lays it down.. Does this sound right to you?Thanks
- sounds like he's leveling an uneven floor. Why don't you ask him why the extra steps.
