What's the amount of taper thread you want? This is really a bad amount. Taper pipe threads are specified: within the range of the effective thread length, there is any place that meets the requirements (as you say, NPT1/2), because the pipe threads are sealed with little depth. Only a few teeth used for sealing, but the thread specification according to the requirements, for example, you say NPT1/2-14, then the pitch is 1/14 inches, in addition, the effective thread in a certain position must be the nominal diameter of 1/2 inch. Depending on your local codes these types of fittings possibly could be used for a sewer main line that is buried, but normally I would think not. Some local codes may accept sch 40 glued fittings only, while others are OK with sdr35, which is thinner. Every area of the country is different and every county has different codes. To know for sure ask them at your local plumbing supply house, or contact your local building dept. And no glue is usually used if these have internal gaskets.

Q:In 1998, I was working at Publix In Fort Pierce, FL. as a front service personnel. I had just finished bringing some groceries to a customers car, and was walking in with the cart in one hand and my umbrella in the other because it was raining. I was at the bottom of the wheelchair ramp going into the building when lightning hit the lightning rod on the building, branched off, and hit me throwing me a good 15 to 20 feet away and knocking me out. When I awoke I was soaking wet. I walked into the store and my manager asked me if I was alright because I was white as a ghost. I had no marks on my body, but ever since I have had problems with intense shaking when I get nervous and my metabolism has never been the same. I also was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder while in boot camp shortly thereafter. Is this the body's normal response to that kind of event and is there anything that I can do to reverse it? If anybody has exrerienced anything similar; I'd appreciate your help.

You can see ABS at any Home Depot, Lowe's or most hardware stores. It's actually an inner wall + an outer wall with a foam core - tougher than it sounds. But I personally prefer cast-iron, which is much quieter than plastic drain pipe. The problem with ABS breaking at the fittings was with a particular brand (Centaur) and it was many years ago. It resulted in a lawsuit against Shell Oil, who provided the chemicals for that batch of pipe. That was a real nightmare.
