Q:I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT with the 3.8 and auto. Today while sitting at a light the car idled normally, but when I have it gas it shut off. It took about 30 seconds before it would restart. There has been no issue since then. Other issues with the car would be occasionally the tach will stop working and the traction light will come on and there is a weird smell occasionally with the heater on.

might have something to do with how cold it is I really don't want to give you brainless information when I don't even know what I am talking about considering I am only sixteen with no car but my mom had that problem all the time during winter.it is something to do with how cold it is outside.

harbor freight,mac/matco if you access to the automotive scene,they have scanners/code readers and clearer's for that price range or even higher priced units that can get further into the computer systems and have streaming data

That's the stability system fault. You have to take it to the dealership, the computer could have failed

Cz makes a decent one. For under 600 your options are slim. Its a 12 gauge so its going to kick

Q:grand cherokee limited V8Problems:1) Left brake light is not working when the park lamps are on and aslo rear left park lamp goes off at same time. When the park lamps are off everything works fine. As far as the Brake light issue my first guess would be a faulty connection with a Grounding wire. They tend to be hooked to the frame or Body of vehicle in various places. A loose one or disconnected ground wire. Will cause this winking out trouble. Another way to notice this effect is if you can see any lights that seem somewhat dimmer than another. particularly a tail light lamp or park lamp. If so the dimmer one can be the side thats is not getting a secure ground. When this occurs. the lamp can still lite but it is now lighting by having the power of another lit bulb drawing the power throuh it. The climate control system might be a Stuck control door / or a solenoid controling a door inside the plenum of the Air duct system. But if you have the most recent version of a new vehicle. several items like this can be having troubles due to a Computer Module not talking right with the system. I Test drive For Ford Motor in the Desert of Arizona we do a lot of Climate Control evaluation. With luck it may very well be a simply piece of Debri blocking a control Door Inside the ducting from moving.

Q:My brake and battery lights came on yesterday afternoon. At first they were only on if I was accelerating but went off when I braked, now they stay on all the time. Also I have a really stong fluid smell but cant find a leak anywhere. It‘s smells like antifreeze but I checked all my hoses and there are no leaks on any of them. Last time this happened my car died two days later and needed a new starter. The starter was replaced in May and was brand new not used. Any ideas? Its a 91 Geo

If the strong antifreeze coolant smell is when your in the car and you've started using the heater this year, you could have a leaking heater core under your dash. If so, eventually you may see steam in the car and an oily substance on the inside of the windshield. Drive to a local auto parts store to get your battery and charging system checked for free. Check your brake reservoir yourself to see if the fluid level is up to the full mark. But you need to get the brake light checked out immediately as noted in the first answer.

Q:Ok heres the problem, I was driving for an hour and a half in the snow and everything seemed fine, except my car has a tendancy to slide to the right a lot. Mind you, my car got into a car accident over a year ago which caused my passenger side to be smashed and I havent yet have the money to get it replaced, BUT Everything seemed to be fine as of yet. Except for a month ago, it seems in the winter everything seems to make everything go wrong. My ABS light came on and it wasnt working very well, and it came off and than came on. My low-coolant light came on too; I checked my antifreeze and I fillled it 3 Times within a month and ahalf time. It semed low; I checked my oil and everything seemed fine too. So What could this possibly be? I know I need to get it checked out; but any ideas on what it could be?

Q:In my 1986.5 Toyota Supra, the battery light is always on. The car starts, runs, and the alternator always charges the battery great I have brand new terminals. I am mechanically inclined but I have never run into this before I‘d some feedback maybe help me toss some ideas into the air on what it could be, also the wires look great and the voltage reads fine and the grounding and tightness of the wires are solid.

Could be just a weak battery, but If everything seams to be OK you could just have a short in the system or a bad warning light. I would take it to your local advance auto or autozone, they will test your alternator/battery for free. Sweet car, btw. I owned a '87.5 Supra turbo
