Q:2003 hyundai sonata:My car engine stopped humming when I was waiting for a light and I wasn‘t able to move. The battery was fine (I put my hazard lights on) and the gas was fine. However, it was on drive and I wasn‘t able to shift past neutral to put it in park and turn off the car, and the brake pedal was locked (I couldn‘t push down)After about 10 minutes (after calling AAA and someone for advice) I was somehow able to shift it to park and turn the car off. I then restarted the engine and everything was fine. Is this because of the anti-lock braking system or is it some other issue?

Antilock brakes have nothing to do with it- those just prevent the wheels from locking up. Is your Check Engine Light on? If so, you can go to Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and have then use their computer to check your computer for free. Write back here with what the finding is. There is a chance this is due to your alternator, so have the folks at Advance run a charging systems test.

Any time the examine engine gentle comes, that's going to flow away a code regardless of whether it remains on or not. Q:I have a 1996 Mazda Millennium that the battery would always go dead on me if it sat for a couple of days. Had battery checked and charged, and it checked good. So i changed the alternator and the light is still on. What do you think is wrong?

If the light is still on you still have a problem. Have your charging system checked at almost any auto parts store. Unless the new alternator is faulty its probably the battery.

all you can do is visually check the EVAP lines for cracks, or check the fuel cap and make sure it's tight. you would need a scanner and a smoke tester to find a faulty part.

Q:This week my service engine soon light came on I have around 48,000 miles on it a 2006 Nissan Sentra SE. I have had my alternator recently changed and my spark plugs changed and my timing belt because they didn‘t know why it was having problems before till they changed my alternator, then I didn‘t have any problems for a few months till now for this part. Now on Monday May 24th, 2010 I drove to class and it was fine. I left class on Monday and when driving home I noticed the Service Engine Soon . I am taking it to the dealership this thursday but wanting to see if there are any info anyone else has on here. Thank You

Q:The headlights now shut off and on, off and on. The car is running ok, but the remote starter will no longer work. The installer was at ABC warehouse in Mount Pleasant Michigan and they talked me into buying a better remote starter b/c the cheapest one would not allow my doors to unlock while the starter was running? I paid 400 $ for this piece of junk. Any ideas one why my lights interior and exterior will turn on and off as they feel like it? Brake lights and turn signals too!
