Q:I am at 98,500 miles i just got an oil change and got new battery terminals and a battery cable put in my car because the previous terminals and cable were corroded. A day later i am driving and the check engine light comes up. I have never had any problem with my car and have always taken it to the dealer until just this past time and look what happens. Does anyone know what could have caused the check engine light to come up? I looked under the hood and i noticed the battery cable was not clipped and was able to roam freely which tells me they did a sloppy job! Now Honda is saying they will charge me $108 to do some test that will tell them a code that will say whats wrongany idea what the could have gone wrong?

Solve all your problems, go to a junk yard and buy some rear steel springs from a crown vic or marquis to replace the airbags, you'll get the same ride and no problems with rear end falling down or fueses blowing .

The service engine soon light usually indicates a problem in your emissions control system. The best thing to do is to go by Auto Zone and ask someone to pull the code. They will usually do this for free. Once you have the fault code/s you will have some idea of where to start. As someone else has already suggested, you can ask again when you have the code, and we can try to help you further.

Q:Does anyone have a problem with Sony HVR-Z7 when shooting in a room that have strip lights?

The cycle rate of the lamps is conflicting with the scan rate of the camera. A common problem. First thing to do is to take control of the white balance, if you are using auto WB this will accentuate the problem, so either set a manual WB under the strip lighting, or use a preset and fix in post, auto uses a tracer system which is confused by strip lighting. If your camera has the option you may want to try recording in clearscan mode (my Sony DSR-570 has it, as do the Canon XM2 and XL2, don't know about the Z7) and get the scan of the chip in synch with the scan of the lights. The only other options involve using a slower shutter which can affect other motion, or shooting in porgressive mode, which again will affect motion. A third way is to deinterlace in the edit, though this is at the expense of horizontal resolution.

There are a few different approaches you can use to acheive the desired effect. I've added custom lighting similar to what you're looking for to many of our restoration projects. I would begin by removing the front seats. 4 bolts and a little manuvering to get them out is worth the time saved trying to work around them. Next you'll need to find a suitable mounting location under the dash. Be very watchful of what you're considering running a screw into. In many vehicles the ducting is accessible under the dash. A hole here will cause the system to leak and due to expansion/contraction will eventually cause the LED light fixture to fall out. As far as getting power to the fixtures find your fuse box and install a new line. Most boxes will have 1 or 2 empty slots that you can use for accessories. If you don't have experience running a new line from a fuse box you can purchase a stacked connector at any auto parts store. This will allow you to pick a currently active fuse (radio for example) and piggyback off it's power source. This will also ensure the light fixtures only receive power with the ignition on. Custom lighting is just thatbe creative. A slow and steady approach is much better than haphazardly mounting crap under the dash and duct taping wires. Take your time, read the LED light manufacturers recommended voltage/amp levels and get to work. Hope this helps!

Q:Preowned vehicle, Starter works very well,(hold both buttons down for -under two sec.)I have accidentally ( eep!) turned on the security system 4 times. (when it is on, car will not start, even with key) , can deactivate security feature by pressing # 1 button.BUT have no idea how to turn it on on purpose!Have tried just about every combination of buttons I can think of!I think this was installed at the GM factory because we have an idiot light on dash that reads ‘security‘ when the system is on. But I think it has been reprogrammed to become a remote starter as well. And naturally no manual or such came with the car.We always lock doors manually, using the power locks, could that be related in anyway???Happy New Year by the way. :)

I had this problem with the 300esp, after pushing 100's of combinations I went to a local guy who hooked up to the brain and he was able to reprogram the brain and add a new key fob for 49bux. ALOT easier than playin the guessing game. and not too expensive either. I know on the 300esp you can accidentally change the settings by turning on the key and operating the valet switch a certain number sequence. After I guessed and played around with a few sequences I thought it might be.I only made the problem worse then went to the local guy. good luck

Q:Last night the power went out, and today my monitor keeps flashing Auto Adjust in Progress. I‘ve tried about everything I can think of; pressed the auto adjust on the screen itself, rebooted, updated my drivers. The last time this happened I found a file in my global start up that seemed to be causing the problem, and got rid of it and the message stopped, but that file isn‘t there anymore (it came from my isp‘s installation disc--i was trying to fix a different problem with it), and I‘m not sure what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Q:Ok so I was driving and out of nowhere my engine light comes on and when I would complete a stop on a light my car would shake. It also kinda wanted to turn off on me but it didn‘t. And when I was in a stop and then accelerated my car would take out white smoke out of the exhaust. Also when I would try to accelerate it would have trouble accelerating it didn‘t want to go. And it kinda smell like gas also.I have a chevy cavalier 1999Please answer thank you

First best answer to StPaulGuy. Guessing will not get you any closer to fixing the problem, getting the codes read will. A mechanic should do it and he should be the one to fix it. Parts stores can cost you a lot with missing the mark on diagnosing based on the codes. I disagree about the head gasket - I have never heard of a head gasket failing out of nowhere (as you described it) and the symptoms are not a good match. For a sanity check, check the coolant level. If it is way, way down it could indeed be a major problem with the engine rather than the controls. If it is not missing a lot of coolant it is not a bad head gasket causing the problems, I guarantee.

Q:i got a flat yesterday. my boyfriend came and fixed it with the spare that came with the car. its been running fine and no damage could have really resulted from the flat. does the check engine light come on when a spare is on the car??

A spare shouldn't make the check engine light come on, even if it's one of those doughnut spares. It must be a coincidence. Quite a few things can make that light come on. Even a loose gas cap.

There is a sensor in the seat belt that is faulty.
