- When I did a search for ivy gold, I found cars. Is this a carpet in a car? If so, try you local junk yard for a replacement carpet.

- How about a rag rug. If you have or can get a lot of old cloth, cut it in even strips and make a long, continuous braid, making sure the ends of each strip are tucked into the back side of the braid. You can then lay the braid in a tight coil and stitch it together into a round or oval rug. The different colors of cloth make an interesting pattern. This is a brief explanation, but I'm sure you can find full directions on making rag or braided rugs online.

- An empty place the carpet can be done , ripped out and replaced in a day with a 2 man crew. A one person operation may take 2 days. That you can find out when you schedule the job. With rip out , disposal, new carpet and installation, your looking at 3000$ ( +- of course) . This is based on the 1000 s/f you say. This may not be all carpet.. - Q:My horse lives in a paddock all week round and with the current climate in sydney its hot one day and raining the next. I live in sydney and he lives 2.5 hours away. He is on an agistment property but i only see him on weekends and the people feed him for me. Are there any rugs that you can think of that are breathable but fairly waterproof and would keep him dry in this annoying weather. TThank you so much and also please only answer if you actually have something helpful to contribute.
- I live in Northern NSW- right now we're getting a fair amount more rain than Sydney. It's HORRIBLE and I totally feel you're pain. My advice is to get a fly-mesh rug. (Horseland has them- the saxon brand is really cheap- weatherbeeta is a better quality). It won't keep him dry, but it will keep the bugs off- and it will keep him cool when its hot. When it starts getting colder you should invest in a light waterproof winter rug (maybe 130g polyfill) which will be fine to leave on him all week in winter- and it will keep him dry. Right now all the horses here are in either flymesh rugs or cotton rugs. They don't stay dry- but it keeps them covered and keeps the bugs off. Lets hope this rain stops soon- I'm so sick of it!

- Q:I have rented the rug doctor before and have been satisfied w/ the results. I am in an apartment and not willing to pay for more. It works great for the $20 rental. However, the get you on the shampoo, anit-foam, ect. Does anyone have a cheaper alternative? By the time I get all this, its not so cheap anymore. Is there even possibly something organic I can make or get cheap? I am having a baby in 3 months and do not want the linger of chemicals in the carpet.

- I have never seen a rug of any kind that is intended to be disposable. You can, of course, throw any rug away, if you don't mind the expense of buying new rugs all the time.
