Do NOT wet the rug if you do not know what the fiber content is. Silk and wool for example may shrink. Use carpet tape to secure it flatly to the floor. It will take a couple of people, remove any furniture inhibiting its placement. Lay out the rug where you want it and have 4 people shuffle the rug out to the corners and stand there using their body weight as anchors. Tape the edges about 12 inches in at a diagonal. Have another person literally use double sided carpet tape found at the home improvement center tape 3-5 inches in from the edge of the rug by folding the edges in, applying the tape and having all four people shuffle that end to the tape line. Yes, you will have the corners anchored with tape diagonally and then again 3-5 inches from the sides above that. This helps edges to keep from curling or becoming trip hazards. Once the carpet is stretched and anchored with the tape, you will not encounter stubborn wrinkles UNLESS you move furniture by sliding it and not picking it up completely off the rug to move it.

Q:Is it true that you are better off buying a thinner carpet (not as dense or tall) with an 8 lb. carpet padding (the best) as opposed to a thicker carpet (dense and tall) with a cheaper 6 lb. padding? The price difference in the padding is dramatic...3.50/sq. yd. vs. 6.50/sq. yd.!

Depends on your budget/what you can afford now and how long you want it to last/where the carpet is located. For a bedroom carpet, you want to denser, as you are walking around bear foot. For the entrance hall, perhaps something cheaper, with a rug or runner. What you should remember is the carpet, no matter what grade, gets covered in all the germs, dirt etc you walk in, you drop etc etc. So you should really swap it every so often anyway for hygiene/allergy reasons, regardless of the quality that goes down. A quick vacuum never gets the germs out, just the dust!

Q:my rug is filthy ....we moved in after these people had dogs in my room and it smells like pee when it gets hot so i decided to clean it today and i put Woolite on and scrubbed it then water and soap on it( i didnt care) now its wet and i want to vacuum it up with a regular vacuum .. is this ok and will my carpet stop making my room smell since i scrubbed it twice with Woolite and water and soap

With straws and what ever material of sting you want. Line up a bunch of straws for the size and shape you want. Run the string through them tie them off at one one one end, Then get to weaving. After its done. pule the straws out and tie of the thing ends. Or leave them in for a stonger mat

well if i made a stain on the carpet i would use vinegar and resolve carpet cleaner and a scrubber of course. so use this magic carpet cleaner this stuff really works. it depends on how much you stained the carpet. the amount of vinegar and resolve varies.

Yes carpet tiles are wonderful if you have children and pets. My brother has 4 children a dog and a cat and we put carpet tile in his basement and it seems wonderful he bought an extra box just to save for accidents and if somebody spilled something or something happened to the carpet. We just pull one up put another one in and it's great i highly suggest carpet tiles with a bunch of children and pets.
