Q:What would be good rug to go in this room?
Frontgate and Grandinroad offer indoor/outdoor rugs that look and feel like quality rugs but are easy to care for as they are able to be hosed down. They come in both traditional and contemporary looks and are great for high traffic areas and kids and pets. I have several of them inside my home and no one knows they aren't a higher quality rug. The Pottery Barn shot tells me you are looking at something more comtemporary so something with some great color choices to perk up the room would be great. These rugs are really inexpensive and great look so check them out. They come in all sizes and shapes. Grandinroad is slightly less expensive than Frontgate but look at both.
Q:Carpet quote? Is this a good deal?
The carpet brand is only one small aspect of what makes the carpet a good value or not. Each company will make 100's of different carpet and many diferent qualities. However, based on normal empire quality carpet: the prices should start at 2.75 sqft ($24.75 sqyd) installed, w/pad disposal. So you may have upgraded and the price can reach that level quickly. We carry many different carpets with many different price levels and great prices in Minnesota's metro area. Stop in and we would love to get you a great value.
Q:Do formal living rooms with hardwoods have to be covered in an oriental or persian rug to be elegant?
Absolutely not. Any beautiful rug given your style choice adds elegance to a room. If your choice is contemporary, a fabulous contemporary rug adds elegance. If your choice is more traditional, then an oriental is perfect or you can mix. A mix of styles takes a little more finesse but it is done and can be done. In the mix, elegance is about choosing your style and doing it right. An elegant contemporary room is about picking the right materials and look. Your husband is wrong. Elegance is about putting the right look together.
Q:Can I put carpet tile over padding ?
Carpet tiles usually have some adhesive on the bottom so they can stick to a concrete floor. I think over padding they would be too uneven and cause tripping. Remove the padding and just put them directly on the floor.
Q:removing pet urine odor from carpet?
You are never going to get cat urine smell out of the carpet, your olfactory senses are just going to become accustomed to the smell and mask it themselves. Then when you have company or guests they will smell it. That carpet needs to be ripped up and the floor checked for saturation as well. The landlord IS responsible for that, and should have gotten a cleaning/security deposit from the last renter which He/She probably did, and wants to pocket the money, or tried a quick cheep carpet cleaning method which is a joke anyway, but that's a whole new subject/posting. I'm not sure what your relationship is with the landlord, but I told you what needs to be done, and maybe there is hardwood flooring under the carpet that can be restored or even just rip up the carpet and the HW floors might be in good enough shape to just clean up. ANYTHING will be better than that cat urine smell and nasty unsanitary environment for anyone to be around. I sure hope you dont have children especially ones that crawl still, THAT IS JUST NASTY. Either way, the landlord IS responsible and you have rights so If said landlord is refusing to step up and take their responsibility seriously, then take the slumlord to court and do a little research to find out the list of infractions they are committing , there's quite a few last time I inquired. Good luck, and remember, any cleaning will only mask cat urine, some more than the next, but will never completely remove the secretions.
Q:How do I stop my cat from scratching and pooping on the bathroom rug?
Old Cat Lady is right. Listen to your elders. OK sorry that was stupid. I would just sorta tap them on the head or spray them when they do that, or take the rugs out of the b-room and replace them w mats.
Q:Rug Doctor cleaning solution?
You really should pay the little more for the proper chemicals. Although they do overcharge for Rug Doctor. A janitorial supply will usually be cheaper. Professional chemicals are usually more concentrated so work out cheaper. You might consider renting from an equipment rental rather than at the grocery store. For one thing the machine will have been maintained. Many of those at the grocery store do not work properly requiring a trip back to exchange it. I owned a janitor service for 20 yr. and a janitorial supply for several years after that. Repaired many Rug Doctors from the local stores. People don't clean them out before returning. Regular rental places take care of their equipment.
Q:my kittens keep pulling the rug??? hellp!?
In general, cats don't listen. You have to beat them at their own game. Make sure they have a scratching post to get their scratching needs out. If they don't seem interested, rub some catnip on the post. If they continue to scratch the rug, sit by with a squirt bottle and squirt them the next time they do it. Cats hate water and it won't take long before they learn to leave it alone.
Q:Websites where I can get cheap but large area rugs ?
I buy all of our large area rugs on OKorder. I bought one that is like 11 or 12 feet by 7 or 8 feet(sorry can't find my measuring tape) for $80.00 with shipping. It is a knock off Persian rug design. We have had it for over a year and it still looks great. Just nose around a little and be sure to check the sellers feedback to be sure you are dealing with a reputable seller and be sure to check out the shipping charges before deciding. Good luck!!
