- Remove the jumper from the neutral lug, (the center lug), to the appliance chassis. Attach the ground wire to the appliance chassis. The 3 lug terminal hooks up Hot-Neutral-Hot. Make DAMNED SURE the appliance chassis is grounded.

- There should be an insert that came with your motherboard that shows you where to plug what. Also, read the instruction manual, or at least flip through it until you find a diagram. A third thing you can do is look at the little plugs, sometimes they're labeled right there on the board.

- Basically, the appliance works on the current flowing into it. When you unplug the cable (or hit the OFF switch, same thing) the current stops flowing, then the appliance then stops working. Very simple. .

- You will be able to get your files back as they are magneticly stored on the harddrive not electronicly, as far as fixing it yourself, you could try opening the plastic shell and retrieving the harddrive itself from inside and hook that up to your pc if you know how.

- The power supply fan is normally built into the power supply. If you are trying to replace the fan in the unit, you will have to deal with taking it apart and probably doing some soldering. Be careful to at least match the specifications of the original fan.
