Q:I hate vacuum cleaners and my dad vacuums all of the time. Does anybody know of a silent vacuum cleaner?

Only a central, whole house vacuum could come close to silence and then only if the fan/motor part was in the garage, outside or very deep in the basement. Vacuums work by turning a rather high speed fan and they are quite noisy. So, you would need to isolate that noise somewhere outside the living area to have a nearly silent system. Even then, moving air makes noise so... Bert.

Q:I got this book on spiritual housecleaning and it says to remove any object that may be associated with the devil - and I have a dirt devil brand vacuum cleaner - is this evil and do I need to remove it from my home? The only thing I do with it is vacuum the floor - and I don't have any other use for it.

You can't possibly be serious about this. Number one, there is nothing spiritual about cleaning. Just clean your house. Number two, throw that book away. Number three, as long as that vacuum cleaner works good keep it.

Nah, it's training the women folk for when they get older...or so I've been told by many men. Plus, if you get them the toy brooms and vaccum cleaners, they can practice riding them before they get their permits in witch school.

dirt devil brand for kids actualy picks up like a sweeper vac and you can empty out the dirt and everything it picks up.

It is a vacuum centrally located in your home, typically the basement. It's huge!! The vacuum piping is then run through the house and you have outlets just like electric outlets. You plug your vacuum hose into the outlets and vacuum away. The dirt and dust collects in the central location and you empty from there. You don't have to lug all of your attachments, etc. from room to room. It's pretty neat, really. My sister had one. Very expensive though. But, that's my sis. Always the spender.

Take a look at the Bissell Healthy Home model. It's got the multi-cyclonic filtering technology similar to Dyson and 1/2 the price. Also has a 5 year warranty and a lifetime belt. On board tools are handy and sturdy. It's not a light weight unit but is solid and has tons of suction. Absolutely!! When my hubby makes me mad I make him vacuum the WHOLE house, and if I'm not happy about the way he did that, I make him empty the bag too! Yeesh

You type well for being blind. The hose is between the canister and floor wand. That is not an elephant trunk in the picture. Yes, the hose comes off, just like all vacuum cleaners. You also posted in the auto repair category.

I don't know much about Oreck cleaners themselves, but the Oreck Corporation has my undying respect for what they did in the aftermath of Katrina. David Oreck made the corporate HQ (in southern LA somewhere) available for anyone who needed somewhere to live or to just ride out the storm. He continued to pay people who couldn't come to work and reopened the factory very quickly after the storm. He and his company shelled out millions and I think they deserve our business.
