Q:She is gravid but she is not close to laying her next clutch of eggs yet. I have an egg laying box with vermiculite in the vivermiam. Her poop had shiny stuff from the vermiculite and then white stuff on the poop has yellow spots on it. Can she be constipated if she at the vermiculite? But why is she not eating her shed skin? SHE USED TO EAT IT BEFOREI also got a 5-6 year old male who also does not eat his skin but i helpe him shed. Why doesnt he eat it as well?
they probably don't want to, most of ours do but sometimes we just take it of for them if the seem like they don't want to.
Q:hey i need help, i just started to ready a small plot for vegetables in my garden, and i‘ve got weeds in several places. there‘s also a lot of stones in the garden. and when i keep trying to dig up the weeds with my fork, the weeds sometimes snap. and then i can‘t find the root. does anyone have any tips/advice on the best way to go about preparing my plot? i‘ve never gardened before.
If this plot has never been dug before, just mark off your site and pull weeds that are tall. Turn your soil with a fork, removing stones that show up as you go. Add vermiculite and compost after you have turned the soil at least once. Once your additives are spread out evenly, turn the soil again. Come back in a day or two and turn the soil once again. Most any growing weed will call it a day by now. Just by turning the soil, you are likely making suitable conditions for weed seeds that are lingering in the soil to sprout. You can always turn your soil, water the plot, and wait a couple of weeks to see what sprouts. Since you have loosened the soil so well, you should be able to pluck weeds right out. Try to avoid using herbicides---they are bad for the environment, and I don't care how safe they are supposed to be when used in a vegetable patch--I won't use that stuff. I grow 100% organic crops. Try never to step in your turned soil. You don't want the dirt to be compacted as water and air have more trouble penetrating hard soil. Make your plot no larger than 4'x4' so you can work with your plants while standing on the edges.
Q:Discovered some vermiculite loose fill insulation. How can it be determined if it contains asbestos or not?
Kate, Yahoo is your best choice to search. go to their homepage and type in garden centers and your city and state. lots of hits will come up. one of my Yahoo groups has members in your area and are familiar with chain stores and nurseries. even Walmart carries it. check out my PlantSwap group. i don't work for Yahoo, but i should. rick
Q:i have a project where i have to solve a murder. and the body was found in an upside-down barrel with a heaping amount of industrial grade moisture absorbing grain that may have been vermiculite?the victim died of blunt force head trauma.. so why do you think they would put the body into the two barrels?PLEASE HELP ME OUT??
Get it tested. There is considerable air flow between the attic and the home, and the insulation only acts as a filter. If you are to seal of the attic, make sure to hire an air-sealer to take care of all penetrations between the attic and conditioned space (there are many) and have his work tested with a blower door.
Q:The rents are re-renovating my house, (it was built in the fifties) and we found some vermiculite in the attic. We know that they used it for insulation, but we want to remove it. I was wondering if it was cancerous. And if it is, if there are any safe ways of removing it?
did you verify to ascertain that a 4 in. pipe is massive sufficient...maximum of todays timber stoves are so air tight and damped down that insulated flues are had to maintain the stack heat and to help decelerate the formation of creosote...this recommendation got here from a range producer ...i in simple terms outfitted a brick chimney with a clay liner and grew to become into advised via the range broking to insulate around the flue with zonolite...
Q:Hello. This question is purely hypothetical.I have a a couple of drums full of a used sulphuric acid solution. They‘re both 45 gallons and were used to dissolve a large amount of extra meat I had in my house. How do I dispose or neutralize this acidic solution? I‘m worried that it will dissolve my plumping if I dump it down my drain.
Waste Disposal: Sulfuric acid may be placed in sealed container or absorbed in vermiculite, dry sand, earth, or a similar material. It may also be diluted and neutralized. Be sure to consult with local or regional authorities (waste regulators) prior to any disposal. Waste must be disposed of in accordance with federal, state and local environmental control regulations.
Q:Are perlite and vermiculite fertile?
The role of pearl rock in Horticulture: soil modification, regulating soil compaction, preventing crop lodging, controlling fertilizer efficiency and fertilizer, and being used as a diluent and carrier for pesticides and herbicides. It can be concluded that there is virtually no fertility.
Q:i need to find a soilless growing media to replace bagasse
That would depend on where you buy your rice. Most rice can be cooked straight from the packet/sack. If you are unsure, rinse it first under tepid/luke warm water and drain well. I've never done this, even when living in Hong Kong. I use 2 x volume of water to rice. Works well. Only ever had a problem cooking rice, and that was when I bought a rice cooker in Hong Kong. Absolute disaster! Followed the instructions. Burnt! Threw it out! The rice and the cooker!
Q:i use vermiculite for my house attic insulation is that good
I thought white button mushroom, I assume the common one sold in stores, is grown on some kind of compost. There may be recipes using those but it should be substitutable with compost.
Q:I am doing a sculpture project with younger kids and know if you mix plaster of paris with vermiculite it will soften it and slow the drying time, making it easier to carve. I can only find perlite , which the garden store people say it the same thing gardening wise- but it is a rock whereas vermiculite is clay based. Is this different for plaster-carving wise/ Ever tried it? or Both?
SOME old or foreign vermiculite has asbestos. If you buy a present day product, it will not. The asbestos would not hurt, but would help the incubation process. Remember, asbestos is one of the best insulting materials known.
