Q:Did some of you expect me to repeat this:quot; Two leg good, four leg baaaaaaaaaaaaad quot;or was thatquot; Rich geek Americans with Chinese prostitutes GOOOOD, working Americans baaaaaad quot;
I'm going back to home and garden!
Q:an unblemished better than a wheelbarrow load of sweet potatoes? Large pumpkins, luscious heirloom tomatoes, on and on! Then before going out to the garden the first lady demonstrates to the women and the children that you must first select just the right wardrobe, and sit for an hour or more in make-up, revealing only to the perceptive and uncharmed that it is not about the garden so much as it is about the first lady and her compulsive and insecure need to be admired and adored!
There are many more important issues to think about than the first lady encouraging at home gardening. She's doing a good job getting people interested in gardening, if she dresses nice, good for her. Should she skip her shower and come to the garden with a dirty dress on, would that make you happy?
Q:How do I plant a delicious Herb garden? I’d like to pick home-grown herbs for my daily salad.
Hey okorder /
Q:what kind of poisons would be found in remodeling homes in the 1950s that would cause neurologic problems?
Lead paint. Wear a dust mask when scrapeing.
Q:I stopped to listen to a garden speaker at our County Fair last week. I was late didn't hear all he had to say, but he brought up the gardener's quot;Biblequot; several times. I over heard someone at the nursery say something about it too, more then once, but never paid attention before. All I know is it is suspost to be the best book on gardening. A must have for every serious gardener. I've checked at several book stores without luck. My neighbor told me that is not the right name, only the name everyone refers to it. But she didn't know the real name either. Does any one know the real name? I have got to have one. Thank You!
I have heard the book referred to by others is certainly considered a bible-- especially for the western states. Reader's Digest puts out a decent book-- I found some wonderful books at my library sale of old books-- you'll just turn into a garden book collector like most of us. Don't leave out your local library for information-- if you have a Ag University-- you can get leaflets on just about the world that pertains to your gardening zone-- which does matter-- a lot. I think most of us just acquire books and information from friends-- and master gardners around us. Welcome to the club! Good luck
Q:well excuse me for having grass issues in my front yard...who else do i turn to ?? : /
Nope!

Q:I want to plant a flower garden and I only want to plant the prettiest, smell good, easy to grow flowers. What is your favorite garden flower?
I've had great luck with portulacas in the past. I've also have had wonderful luck planting tulip and hyacinth bulbs and having them come back every year. The tulips and hyacinths smell great! The links are more information about each flower.
Q:what do i need and how do i start one?
Those are good suggestions, but remember if you want butterflies, you must have caterpillars and supply food plants for them. There are two books I would recommend, one is a tiny pocket sized book called Painted Ladies. The other is a thick paperback, Caterpillars of North America, and is the only comprehensive book of caterpillars so far printed that identifies them and what butterflies they turn into, as well as food sources. There is also a Peterson guide to caterpillars. Most of the butterfly guides, while good for identifying butterflies, do not list most of the caterpillars. Please learn your caterpillars so that you do not inadvertently kill them. Some food plants for them are the carrot family, dill, fennel and parsley, for black and yellow swallowtail caterpillars; milkweed for Monarchs; and one huge beautiful Fritillary needs violets for egglaying and food for the caterpillars, tho the butterfly itself feeds on milkweed and other flowers. There is also a Pipevine Swallowtail that only feeds on Dutchman's pipe vine. Some caterpillars overwinter as larva in leaf detrius, so it is a good idea to not clean up everything in the fall, but leave the habitat for them. There are also lots of plants that moths like, and there are some beautiful moths, such as the luna moth (in the Lunesta commercial) as well as butterflies. Also, you must never use insecticides on your plants, as it is non selective, and kills the butterflies and caterpillars as well as the garden pests.
Q:in my home garden, due to a lot of plants, there are a lot of mosquitoes, i know i could just use bug zapper at places but still it is a risk sleeping out in my garden or having dates in the garden and spending a lot of time in the garden, can i regularly spray Anti-Mosquito#92;Mosquito Killer Sprays on plants to get rid of mosquitoes? will it be bad for plants?will it also be bad for the vegetables those plants are producing?is there any other way to get rid of mosquitoes from garden?
Mat is correct as far as Roundup is concerned. It is safe to use on weeds in lawns because it clings to the leaves of the weeds and doesn't get deposited in the soil. Now if you need to kill an area again to get rid of stubborn weeds, don't use chemicals. Plain old white vinegar will do the job, but it requires a lot. Let the weeds curl up and die from the vinegar, then water the soil well 2 or 3 times over the course of a week. You can replant after that. White vinegar will also kill ant hills as well as gasoline does, but the soil recovers Use it to kill the weeds in your sidewalk, too.
