- Q: How much does a gallon of semi gloss enamel paint from home depot cost?
- About $25. If you need more than one gallon, some brushes and other stuff, buy all of it at the same time. At the counter sign up for a Home Depot credit card. They will then give you a $25. discount on the total bill. Instead of paying cash, that purchase amount will then come to your home in the mail as a bill along with your new card. Pay the whole bill and tear up the card if you want to. Saved $25.
- Q: 1. After we have plucked the last of our tomatoes off the plant, should we bring it inside for the winter or does it die after one season? they are those little grape tomatoes if it makes a difference)2. Every apartment in our complex has a little space for a garden right outside. We didn't get around to planting anything in ours this year, but next year we want to. Should we pull out the weeds and wildflowers and mulch before winter or in the spring?3. I have a leather purse, and I need to take it on a week long trip we're leaving for this weekend (it's the biggest purse I have), some of the stitching is coming out on one of the handles, and the only leather repair shop in town can't repair it for 2 weeks. Is it ok for me to use a heavy needle and threat to temporarily stitch it, if I use the same holes where the old stitching was? All the stitching on that handle will come out anyways when I get it professionally repaired....
- 1 you can try is the plant is in a pot-- it has flowers. tomatoes are annuals= live 1 season die. #2 go out before the ground freezes, pull weeds, flowers ,etc. either till the soil w/ a mechanical roto-tiller or double-dig w/ a spading fork shovel-- to 'double-dig' is to dig down 1 spade depth, turn the earth so that the former top is rotated 90 degrees --do this for the entire bed. leave it exposed for the winter---then in late winter/early spring work over the bed again adding compost, maures, etc. (double-digging is hard work--so if you have a weak back-or medical issues either hire a teenager to do it or use the roto-tiller which can be rented by the hour in many larger cities) #3 try using waxed thread and an awl -which is a heavy needled hand tool made for this work.
- Q: This year they are during the same week. I am trying to decide which one would be best to attend. Have you been to either/both in the past and what did you think of them.thanks
- I've been to the one in St. Louis. I enjoyed it. There were many interesting, fun things to see. Lots of useful information booths, too. I went a couple of years ago to the one in downtown St. Louis. If you enjoy home decor and, especially, gardening and landscaping, I think you'd enjoy the show.
- Q: What are the easiest Orchids to grow in home garden??
- Typically they are only grown in green houses. Remember they are tropical plants so unless you live in a tropical region, you can have problems.
- Q: Hi. We just sold our house and are moving to a rental townhome. Had the carpets professionally cleaned, but there is still a smell of pet odor in one of the bedroom closets which appears to be where the previous tenants kept not only the dog food, but the litter box as well. Any recommendations on some additional action that can be taken to reduce the slight stinch still left behind? Air puifier? Thanks
- An air purifier might help- But removing the effected section of carpet and padding would probably be better: It sounds like the pet problem soaked all the way through. Good luck!
- Q: I'm thinking about planting something in my gardening and my friends tell me that pH is important factor to consider when I'm trying to decide what to plant. What's so important about pH?
- Different plants do best in different environments. There are plants that need acidic soil to do well, such as rhododendrons, azaleas, blueberries. Others prefer alkaline soil, such as lavendar, irises. So it depends on what you want to grow. You can get a general idea about the soil in your area by observing the weeds that grow there, but you will have to check a reference guide for this. It is easier to choose plants that will naturally do well in your area than to try to modify the soil drastically. A lot of plants will do well anywhere. Observe the gardens around you and talk with experienced people at your garden center.
- Q: why do they come into the house and how do you get ride of them
- Have you tried to ask this question in Home Garden? I'm sure that crowd would be far more useful than a forum dedicated to questions about pets...
- Q: And does this backyard/garden have a fence?
- Totally fenced in back yard on a bluff overlooking the city with an Oak Tree taller than the 2 story home, a pool and hot tub and a nice patio for BBQ's, room around the Oak tree to sit under and a Gazebo in one corner. Several gardens and many pots full of flowers
- Q: Apparently the former owners of our mobile home had a problem with something underneath the trailer (leaky faucets, etc) and tore out the support from underneath the garden tub in the master-bath. I noticed what looked like a hair one day while cleaning the tub and realized that it was not a hair it was a crack!! The crack is only about an inch long and is still fitted together, so I don't think it leaks much at all, unless one side or the other gets pushed down. It's definitely not a gaping hole or anything and we do still use the tub, though we are careful to stay away from the crack, which is in the very bottom, about 4 inches from the drain. We are planning on going under the trailer this summer to quot;shorequot; things back up, but I need to know if there is any way to fix the crack without having to replace the whole tub. There is no way we can afford that..
