- Q:Experiment for jc?im doin an experiment for my jc.i have to use three fabrics one of them being denim.the investigation is to compare the thermal insulating properties of fabrics when they are wet and when they are dry. plz giv me examples of 2 other fabrics and tell me how u do this experiment .
- I'd use denim, corduroy, and leather: 1. get a glass of water at ten degrees above room temperature (85 degrees farenheit) 2. wrap each fabric arround the glass of water and record the time it took for the water to go back to room temperature. 3. do the same thing but using the wet fabric instead.

- Q:I see cloths with vinyl or acrylic coatings, and I wonder if these are considered tacky for any type of stylish or semi-formal dinner. (We don‘t claim to be the most stylish people on the block, but we are trying to go up rather than down.) We are tired of buying cotton and polyester tablecloths and having them oil-stained (or wine-stained, or sauce-stained) and unusable after a couple of weeks, but we don‘t want something that looks like it came out of Edith and Archie Bunker‘s dining room.Suggestions?
- They are all tacky for a dinner party. Just learn which stain removers to use for which item, and how to treat the stain at the time it occurs. My best friend for laundry stains is dishwasher detergent. It is made to clean off food, and works great for fabrics that have food stains. I just soak anything that has stains over night in the washing machine with the detergent and water. In the AM I add my regular detergent and complete the cycles. And people are coming to eat, not to judge the appearance of your table. If they do, don't invite them again.
- Q:I was about to throw out a bunch of clothes when the idea just dawned on me that I could use them for the lining of my guinea pig cage. I plan to throw these clothes as liners each week when I clean the cage, so why not use them as a liner to my guinea pig cage? Of course I will be removing all metal and plastic pieces such as buttons and zippers. Offhand I do not think cotton t-shirts are a problem, but what about poly blend, polyester, denim. - I would not use clothing or any cloth as lint or cloth can get caught in their throat while they chew. Cloth will expand much more than paper or woodchips when wet and could cause choking!! Plus some synthetic fibers, even the ones in tshirts will plug the digestive tract and cause an intestinal blockage which is always fatal. I would stick with materials that are meant for small pets that chew. I would not use or old clothes for that pupose, there are a lot of people that can use your old clothes. However here is a way you can earn money off your old clothes and use the money to buy new ones or offset the cost of the bedding you buy at the pet store. Plus your old clothes will be put to good use by helping others. Here are my suggestions for your clothes. 1. If they are in good shape you can sell them over EBay! 2. Second hand thrift stores will buy them. 3. Have a garage sale. 4. Sell to a friend that does flea markets or sells used clothing. 5. Sell to your friends. 6. If any of it fits me or my family, I may be interested in your old clothes! (I am totally serious!) Here are some good solutions that will not earn you money. 1. Give to a friend or relative. 2. Give to a charitable thrift store. 3. Give to a church. 4. Give to a homeless shelter. I hope this helps, but whatever you do. Please do not throw them away even if they are not in the best of shape!! - Q:We found out the hard way that polymer based resins melt right through EPS, so we are going to use epoxy based resin. I have never fiberglassed anything before. I kind of got the picture from Googling that it is kind of like using paper mache, coat the foam in epoxy put the fiberglass cloth over it and paint epoxy into the cloth. Is this the way to do it?
- Try covering foam with 6 mil plastic, use silicone to glue joints together so there are no leaks and fiberglass over top.
- Q:It has massive crease marks from the package it came in. Ironing does absolutely nothing aside from making the fabric warm.How can I get it looking remotely smooth?
