Q: I want to build a solar panel
Did okorder / . This will absolutely save yourself!
Q: can u use a light bulb instead of the sun to power a solar panel
Yes, but why? If you've got the light-bulb, you've already got more electricity than you will get out of the solar panel.
Q: They have been around long enough to be cheaper. Unless they are made out of a natural material that is rare and hard to find, there is no reason why they should be so expensive. On another note, I think that all low power devices like cell phones and even laptops should have solar panels. Even if it is not enough to fully power the device for a long period of time, it will provide some electricity savings and with millions of people saving a little power adds up.
Photo okorder /... Notice it costs over $200 and it takes up a sizable amount of space. Plus you have to expose it to bright sun light. Over all this is not something the average consumer wants to spend money on or fuss with. If something is expensive, difficult or inconvenient to use then people won't use it. Just the basic economics of such a device limits its sales never mind its functionality and usability. Even if you made a small one buit into the cover to extend the battery you won't get much of an extension and you will increase the cost of your laptop. Consider how people shop, will they buy the more expensive laptop for a questionable amount of battery extension? Mass production can lower costs but in order to mass produce something you need a demand that will consume what you produce. But if no one wants the item because of the aforementioned issues than you can't justify mass producing the item. This is like the classic which came first Chicken or Egg problem, one doesn't happen without the other. Cost reduction doesn't happen without consumer demand. This is where tax incentives, subsidies, low cost loans and energy buyback contracts come into play in order to spur on demand and jump start mass production. You could also make electricity extremely expensive by taxing oil and carbon so that a Solar Cell becomes economically competitive to very expensive electricity. Problem with this option is the negative impact high energy costs have on economic activity. Just look at what happened a couple of summers ago when gas hit $4/gal. To spur on demand we need to incentives the use of Solar cells (and other alternative energy). This can be done through several means such as subsidies, tax incentives, low interest loans, energy buyback contracts etc...
Q: I have the wattage of solar panel but i dont know about the voltage amp; current rating of it. Plz explain me about the voltage rating of solar panel.
The voltage rating and current rating are part of the specifications for the panel. You will have them listed on the spec sheet. The voltage number is usually the open circuit voltage of the panel, the voltage with no load. The current number is the short circuit current of the panel. In use, you need special electronics, called a Maximum Power Tracker (MPT) controller, which adjust the load to get the most power from the panel, and adjust the voltage output via a DC-DC converter to the optimal conditions to charge the attached battery. how to take batteries as per solar wattage ? sorry, don't understand this.
Q: Okay so.. if light deflect the light of the sun and black absorbs it, then aren't solar panels just absorbing more light, sun and heat into our atmosphere? Wouldn't this lead to an increase in global warming? Shouldn't solar panals be white? No rude answers please.
If the panels are deployed at outer surface of atmosphere then white will reflect the sun light to outer space. If the panels are deployed at earth surface, inside the atmosphere, most of the reflected light will be bounced back to earth by the atmosphere. For the solar panels we are talking about, they need to be dark color to absorb light and turn into electricity.
Q: When people buy small solar panels, what are the steps to making it actually charge or run something.. I'm completely new to this of course and im curious. what kinda of wire and other devices are needed and how do you attach the wire and everything..

Q: hi, i got a pond and i am planning of putting some lights on it during night time. but i want to use solar panels and i have done a bit of research about solar panels and i know how they work, i know that the common voltage to use is 2v so you can use car batteries or deep cycle batteries, but my question is:. what wattage of bulb can you recommend2. how long it would take to drain my battery (can i have it overnight)3. and what wattage of solar panel should i get enough to recharge my battery the next day.hope anyone can help..thanks
You can get 6V cells and SLA batteries. You would get a panel and batteries suitable for the lights you get though. Depending on what you want to do, you shoud look into LED lighting, which is more efficient than incandescent. You do not want to drain your battery flat. Rather you want to draw only 2/3 of its capacity of so. You would find the lights you want (likely 2VDC), and add up the current they draw, and get a battery that would supply enough capacity (in AH, which is amps time hours) for a couple nights use (to account for weak solar days), and a solar panel to charge two days of use in one good day. You would use a charge controller so that the solar panel does not over charge the battery, and some sort of dusk timer to turn your lights on at dusk and off several hours later.
Q: For example, If I were powering my house with solar panels, would it be more efficient or effective, (or I guess would I get more energy) out of a day that measured 90 degrees Fahrenheit as opposed to a day that is 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q: Are solar panels worth it?? I mean the price you by for them up front is a lot, so you properly need a loan for it. So how does it work? Won't the loan be just as much as you electric bill?Im just really confused about it.
Solar panels are one of today's best investments! With a lifespan of 25 to 30 years minimum, and a payback period of 0 year or less, the economics are a no-brainer. There are often state loan programs giving you low interest or no interest for a length of time. There are also tax credits and rebates that take care of a lot of the up front money. Calculate for yourself what you will pay to your utility over the next 30 years. Then see how the cost of a solar electric system compares. My company has helped scores of homeowners and business owners claim Independence and take control of their energy costs for the next few decades.
