- Q: how can alkali metals be extracted from their compounds? why is this method used?
- Basically. Black Metal is largely based on satan - See Mayhem, Dark Funeral, Dark Throne. Death Metal is based on Death. - See Deicide, or Morbid Angel. Melodic Death is death but mixed into classical music or other melodic rhymes - See Opeth or In Flames Power Metal is music from the 80s, very fast and usually up beat. See Extreme, and newer, Dragonforce. Progressive Metal is more, unusual. Best thing i can advise on that is someone like Tool, or even Ghost Reveries from Opeth. Gore Metal is based on brutality, mutilation, murder and rape. See Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated, Incision or Exhumed. Industrial sounds electric, as if played by machines, check out Fear Factory or Static X. Heavy Metal is the basic from the 80s, just heavy, see Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Manowar. Thrash Metal is similar to heavy metal but faster and usually with more technical solo's. See Metallica, Slayer or Anthrax. Doom Metal is slow going, not much happens, see My Dying Bride. Gothic metal normally means Operatic vocals, check out Nightwish, Leaves Eyes, After Forever or others like that. Folk Metal is based main on Folklore, but i can't think of any specific bands, though you could put Arkham in there, who are H.P. Lovecraftian Metal. Viking Metal is just music based on Ancient Norsk. Most Black Metal bands include parts. The BEST kind of metal at the moment though, appears to only have 1 band, and thats pirate metal!!!! Check out Turisas for that! Hope this helped :) But to me, metal is metal, its all good =D
- Q: i always thought it was a mineral or rock, someone told me it was a metal, anyone know?
- You can get a hydrated oxide, as in hydrated iron oxide which is rust.
- Q: I like all sub genres of it, but whats so bad about nu metal?
- yeah.. technical death metal is very difficult to play, so you kind of have to be a perfectionist to be good at it
- Q: basicallymetalcore, deathcore, hardcore, screamo vs BLACK METAL, death metal, doom metal, (thrash metal?)
- Metal is difficult to describe but i can see where you're going in saying that linkin park and three days grace are not. i think the best way to describe heavy metal is the fact that it is a non-conforming genre of music. since it's birth with black sabbath to the mainstream success of metallica and far into the future it has always remained the same, sound wise and usually lyrically. many of these bands that are considered metal especially the nu metal bands changed there sound as the years went on; korn was nu metal but them they became more industrial rock, linkin park was nu metal then they became more pop rock oriented. on the other hand you look at a bands like dio, iron maiden and megadeth they have stayed the same throughout their careers. that's probably my best description of heavy metal i can give you.
- Q: Because I like breaking benjamin's blow me away but if alternative metal is evil, I won't like it.
- Metallic bonds occur among metal atoms. Whereas ionic bonds join metals to non-metals, metallic bonding joins a bulk of metal atoms. A sheet of aluminum foil and a copper wire are both places where you can see metallic bonding in action. The sea of electrons is free to flow about the crystal of positive metal ions. When metallic bonds form, the s and p electrons delocalize. Instead of orbiting their atoms, they form a sea of electrons surrounding the positive metal ions. The electrons are free to move throughout the resulting network
- Q: and bands mixed with power metal and melodic death metal

- Q: do metals have a greater ionnization energy than nonmetals?
- Nu-metal was a bad time (still is)... Mostly, what killed it is the commercialization and subsequent softening of the genre. Any time it becomes fasion (sold at Hot Topic) it loses a bit of it's original sting. Each era has had it's downfall... the 80s had glam/hairspray/ballads... the 90s had angry nu-metal that didn't ever evolve... now we have pansy bands like Saliva, Puddle of Mud, Kid Rock, and whatever else, that have just tainted the heaviness into a bunch of crap. That's my answer. Also, I could have said that the death of metal happened when Metallica all cut their hair.
