Q:I accidently put window paint on the back window of my friend's convertible. Now he says its stained, I really need to get it off. Any ideas?!
problematic water stains are hassle-loose in city water structures . I somewhat have stumbled on in case you wash your vehicle in a degreaser, then dry with a drying fabrics like an Absorber . thoroughly do away with the water out of your living house abode windows and physique. Then use a cleanser wax in liquid style like mothers, or black ice. this eliminates the inital hardwater stain ,then use a carnuba wax like mothers or black ice. basically do small aspects of the vehicle at a time like 0.5 the hood or fender as dried wax is greater stable to do away with.the carnuba wax seals the paint from contamints and provides you an superb shine . now for the living house abode windows use a foaming window cleanser like invisable glass as this is composed of amonia and is danger-unfastened for tint.
Q:Ok so me my bf moved in together last may and have had about a 115-138 dollar power bill every following month. All of a sudden the past 2 months our bill came in at $200 bux! Iam so frustrated bc I always keep stuff turned OFF lights TV's ect. When they aren't being used..Constantly goen behind him turning crap OFF!BTW (Annoying) Decembers bill came in at 206+late fee!? I thought wow ok it is cold outside lately maybe its the heater? Then this months came in at $238 iam astonished dnt know how 2 pay it! So i put plastic from an old shower curtain up over windows even though i was told use plastic painters would use:) all i had was shower curtain! Will this even drasticly help reduce bill!? Could it also be that our hot water pipes aren't covered? Idk if they are or not but can find out really quick! Plz any real helpful answers will be much appreciated!
Whatever plastic you put over windows will do no good at all unless it's completely sealed along all the edges and creates an air space between the window and the plastic. You didn't say if you did that or not. It will, in any case, not make a huge difference in your bill to put plastic on the windows even if it is totally sealed and done properly. Some difference, sure, but not a lot. Yes, it's the heat that is making those huge power bills. Lights and TV don't use that much. Heating and cooling are what really cost you. I don't know how cold it is where you are, but it's not all that cold where I am, a few degrees below zero at night is the coldest we get around here. I have electric heat and electric everything else. My normal summer electric bill is about $30 a month. The bill I am about to pay is going to be $150 a month. That's for just me living here, I don't usually keep the place more than about 63F, I'm very conservative with power use, and we pay relatively low power rates here. Your large bill doesn't look too bad from my point of view. You're paying a lot less per person for December/January than I am. I don't know what temp you heat your house to. If it's more than 65f, turn it down and wear some extra clothes.
Q:this geo metro is a 92 4door hatchback and window is in the hatch and I am looking for new window molding to go around this window. If anyone know just put me in the right direction.
It's a 92 Metro. Use duct tape. no Check with auto glass places. They will be expensive but it may be the only place to find it. Or try J.C. Whitney.
Q:I rent a townhouse that has very old windows.. LL will not replace them so im thinking of puttng plastic over the wndows.. we are not aloud to put plastic outside.,. Can anyone tell me..should it be thick plastic? should i staple it? or just tape? when i lay on my bed or couch i can feel the draft and the curtans move.. these wndows are terrible!! any help on the whole insulating thing would be great.. i hate having my heat on 78 just to be somewhat warm cause all the cold ar is still blowng in.. for some reason the heating vents are close to the wndows.. defeats the purpose if you ask me..
Have you checked the condition of the glazing around the windows? That's the putty that both holds the window in keeps the draft out.... you can get some from a hardware store patch where it's missing... use a putty knife, or even a butter knife... Get a deflector to direct the heat into the middle of the room- also hardware store, or maybe improvise something-
Q:I am talking about the stuff you tape to the inside of your home windows and use a hair dryer to stretch it tight. It is supposed to keep single pane windows better at keeping in the heat. I live where it gets 30 degrees at night and 40-50 during the day in winter. Does anyone have experience with these products? Which type works best? Mainly, does it really keep heat in? OR does it keep sunlight heat out and balance out to zero help?
Yes it can make a HUGE difference. In college, I lived in an old drafty house with 6 other friends. Our heating bills were astronomical and you could literally feel the wind blowing through the windows! We shrink-wrapped the windows and immediately noticed a change in the temperature in the rooms. Our heating bills dropped by 30% over one month. Windows typically account for 10-20% of the heat loss in a house. Even if you have double-pane windows, they still get cold, leeching heat out of your room. The plastic sheeting will help by creating a partial vacuum between the window and the plastic which acts as an insulator (this is the same principle those old metal glass thermos bottles use.) This helps keep the heat in, and the cold out. Sunlight still passes through, but not the heat from the sun. That's mostly blocked by the vacuum between the plastic and the window. Double pane windows do most the same thing - only the space between the panes is filled with Argon gas, which is a poor conductor of heat and cold. The only downside is that the sticky tape these kits use may damage paint when removed - assuming you can remove the tape at all. You'll also need to purchase a new sheets for each window each year. Other alternatives include making sure there are no holes or cracks around your window frames. Use a caulk gun to fix these problems, just don't caulk the windows shut! :-) Caulk guns are cheap, and you don't need an expensive tube of caulk - even the $0.99 tubes of painter's caulk will do the job. (it also work wonders against keeping bugs out of your house, but that's for another time.) Covering the windows with heavy drapes will also help, but isn't as effective as the plastic sheeting. However, every little bit can help. Drapes also help in the summer by helping keep heat out of your house.
Q:Is it necessary to remove the plastic window from paper CD sleeves before recycling?
If it's flimsy plastic, then yes. If it's rigid, then no.
Q:I'm about to move into an apartment room that I have been warned gets very cold in the winter (I live in MN). However, the person telling me this also mentioned that the windows had not been plastic wrapped the previous winter. In her opinion, however, plastic wrapping the windows would do no good because according to her quot;you can actually feel the cold coming up through the floor.quot; I think it's possible though that what she felt coming in through the floor was actually the drafts from the window sinking to the ground and spreading. Would plastic wrapping my windows eliminate this problem? Or would the room still be cold/I should request a different one? Thanks
The glass itself? No. It needs an air barrier between the plastic and the window.. So basically you put plastic on the sill and walls, covering the window over all, and yes, that does work. I do it on my bathroom window during winter. Because it gets freekin' cold. Nobody likes taking a hot shower, then walking out of it nude in to Antarctica..
Q:My mom has plastic windows on the inside of the house. How do i take them off for the summer?
im not sure i know what you mean...explain and i'll try answer afterwards? sorry
Q:Is there a way to get the plastic windows on my convertible clear again without replacing.?
go to a auto glass shop and if theyre not too messed up you can get a polisher to use with a buffer
Q:I don't mind if its designed for another brand but I am getting very frustrated because I can't find it on GE's site or any other. I bought the unit without it in hopes I could find one online but can't find the specific one. HELP! The piece is the one that sits in the window to hold the hose in the window. The unit is a Portable AC which means it sits on the floor not in the window so its got specially designed plastic plate piece that is adjustable for your window size.
Measure the window opening and go to a glass place with the hose and have them make you a lexan piece to fit the window with a hole in it. Lexan is very sturdy. You can run a rod straight thru the outside part of hose to keep it in place or tape it. It isn't like some technically expensive part to make. Actually it will probably be better than original. BTW, keep the hose as short as you can as it gets warm and heats the room as the compressor cools it. I had one and the closest I could get was 5 feet and it didn't help at all.
