Q: Can it be better than ordinary gypsum board? Is it good?: Commonly used is the Taishan gypsum board, good quality gypsum board high strength, good moisture resistance!

Q: my bedroom walls are drylined ,is there a way of soundproofing without removing the plasterboard?: Here is a drywall product designed for sound control. Egg cartons are just so ugly.

Q: Three building materials, plasterboard, brick, and wood, all the same thickness and area, are sandwiched to form a wall. Temperatures are 27 degrees Celsius at the inside plasterboard surface and 0 degrees celsius at the outside wood surface. Find the temperature where the plasterboard meets the brick and where the brick meets the wood.k for plasterboard = .40k for brick = .70k for wood = .2: 1/0.4+1/0.7+1/.2 = 7.5+1/.7 or about 8.93 the plasterboard drops 27*2.5/8.93 C : about 7.7C so temperature at plasterboard/brick is around 19.3 C the wood drops twice as much about 15.2C so brick-wood interface is around 15.2C. Appropriate numerical precision when the conductivities are given to 2 significant figures means your answers should be about 19C and 15C. The brick is awful! Have a look at the link below; even thermal grease isn't much worse than this brick but the values do seem to be pretty typical.

Q: 12mm thick gypsum board is the proportion of how much?: You are in the water to know. If it is ordinary gypsum board, are generally floating on the water, the density is certainly less than 1. If it is a special gypsum board, add a lot of glass fiber and the like, the density may be slightly greater than 1.

Q: Is it better to use a mortar or and adhesive to dot and dab plaster board to walls?David?: In a sense the question is a bit confusing. Are you installing DRYWALL to studs? OR are you boarding over and existing wall material? Is PLASTERBOARD the actual substance? Have you defined the differences between Mortar and adhesives? Certainly if this is material going over studs or existing wall material, one might use a contracting adhesive, but it wouldn't be my choice as the only method to secure new wall material. I'm going to assume this is not Lathe/ Mesh/ and Plaster being installed. Just my two sense

Q: when skimming walls, can you do it over backing paper or does it have to be directly on the plasterboard??: I'm no expert but would think you would need to remove backing paper before plaster goes over it , or paper will become very wet and start peeling away with plaster attached ........................... :)
