- The reason Te has 18e- is because it has electrons in d orbitals which contain 10e- in itself plus 8e- from s and p2e s orbital 8e p orbital 18e d orbital 8e shouldnt show up twice i would double check that with your teacherThe electrons that matter are the outermost electrons that bond so the only ones a dot diagram will show are the outermost electrons Te happens to have 6 (2 e- in the s and 4 in the p oribitals) does that help?
