- The sofa is fine. For a shabby chic living room, choose a lot of pale colors, preferably white. The shabby chic style is light and feminine. Add some fresh flowers to the room, romantic floral painting, vintage accessories etc. If you are going for bright colors, than I would choose earth tones such as greens and blues. - Yeah i doubt hell chew up your sofa. The cat will probaly scratch your sofa though. I had the same problem i had a kitten and it would just scratch everything. What we did is we used a spray bottle fill it up with water and then everytime he goes to scratch the sofa squart him. We did this with are cat and he doesnt do anymore. Every once in a while he will still do but now i dont even have to touch the spray botle all i have todo now is just walk over to it and he stops scratching. Now he uses most of the a scratch post. - First off, keep the cat away from the sofa. Secondly, sprinkle a lot of baking soda over the spot, and leave it for two to three days, then vacuum it up really well. Thrid, True Value Hardware has something called Pet Oder Control, used by many kennels to remove pet oders. It is an enzime formula, so there won't be any problem with harsh chemicals. Apply it as per instructions, several times, then when dry, use the baking soda one last time, and vacuum it up. If this doesn't work, at that point I would have the sofa professionally cleaned. I assume the sofa is either an heirloom, or somewhat valuable, and you would want to keep it. The whole cleaning process shouldn't cost a whole lot. I have many cats myself, and have used this technique before with great success. I hope this helps.

- Q: My wife and I purchased a velvet chenille sofa a while back, and have noticed that whenever any liquid (even just water) gets on the sofa, it leavs a spot. We tried cleaning one of these spots with the cleaner we were given, and it only made the spot bigger.Unfortunatley we seem to be on the losing side of a battle with the waranty company, so I think we're on our own to get the spots out. Can anyone offer any advice on getting rid of these spots. The makeup of the chenille is :48% Rayon, 28% Polyester, and 24% cotton if that helps.Thank you so much in advance.
- The best secret and it works for cleaning any fabric upholstery is a wet/dry vac. After you put the cleaner on the sofa, use the vac to remove as much moisture as possible (that's what causes the spots) The best cleaner I've found for unindentified stains is lighter fluid like you use in a Zippo lighter. This is basically the same as used by professionals just easier to purchase and cheaper. I squirt it on very liberally then rub very gently with a brush, then vac out all moisture with vac. This prevents it from spotting. After dry if the stain isn't gone trying a water base cleaner and then repeat the brush and vac process. Always do the lighter fluid first because if the stain is oil based and you use water first that will set the stain and then it may not come out. Good Luck!
- Q: Couple of months ago I asked about my dogs peeing on sofa. Got several answers back; all said to crate train them, train them to go outside etc. The problem is that they are trained to go outside and they won't pee in their 'crate'. However, I have one sofa that they tend to pee on even if they just came in from outside. They are nearly 18 months old, sisters, and are Chihuahuas. I'm not even sure which one does it! Any suggestions?
- Don't let them sleep on the sofa - or spray it with a special spray.. Make sure that you're getting rid of the smell of pee on the sofa as dogs like to pee where they've already peed. You really need to tell them that it's a no, pick them up, show them both the pee, and say NO sternly then put the outside.
