- try pushing IN the pin with a heavy/duty paper clip, while your pushing in the pin .. pull on the door knob.. if that works, then after the knob is removed turn the face plate (by hand)counter-clockwise also pulling while turning. You should only have to turn it about an inch, ( there's a little tab on the inside of the plate that fits inside a slot on the base/plate) Remove the face and you should see 2 screws holding the mechanism togetherGOOD LUCKI'm just totally guessing that this is the type of door knob you have where I work these are commercial(heavy duty)styled door knobs
