- Q:I am wanting to sand and repaint the bed of my '89 step side Chevy. The bed is Fiberglas and I don't want to mess it up while sanding it. Does anybody have any tips on what to use and how to do it?
- Unless you have a special bed liner, it's metal. The outer fenders and box is fiberglass but not the bed it's self. If you are talking about the inner bed just go and get a kit that's like rhino liner and roll it on.

- to tan your sides just lay on your side, it might be a tight squeeze but it will work. if you're on your left side, keep your right arm under your head so you can tan your underarms too and then vice versa for your right side. i usually lay on my stomach for about half the time. i turn my head back and forth, and sometimes put my chin on the bed so i can tan my neck and under my chin. my hair stylist told me sun-in is a bad idea and that it would turn my hair orange (i have brown hair). if you have brown hair too then i suggest brilliant brunette (although it does make your hair fall out more.. gross) or aveda has some great, more pricey products.

Most installations mask off areas where you don't want the spray to hit just like for painting a vehicle. The recommended area is the entire interior of the bed and tailgate and the top of the bed sides and tailgate. If there is sufficient space between the tailgate bottom (at the hinges) and the edge of the bed so that the tailgate can still operate smoothly, I'd also spray the lip of the bed and maybe even down a little towards the area between the bed and rear bumper. This will give an overlap at the back of the bed where cargo being slid into the bed might normally hit the edge of the liner and start chipping it away. Something I've found is that there is a substance similar to the Rhino Liner material, but less prone to scratching. It's called Shark Skin. You might Google it and see if anyone around uses it. It requires a special (very expensive) sprayer, so is not something that you can do yourself.

- You can replace it yes. Mig weld the holes and resurface it and prep and paint. Bedliners made of black plastic just slip on or in are available and is the cheape$t way. A wooden bed looks like junk.
