Q: When is a good time to move a toddler into a toddler bed? My daughter is 17 months old and climbs out of her crib so she cosleeps with me. I have a toddler bed do you think she is old enough?: We switched our daughter over at 16 mos. when she started trying to climb out of her crib. We skipped the toddler bed and put her in a twin size bed. We didn't use any rails. Her mattress actually sits on the floor between the bedrails so if she did fall out, she didn't fall far. She's only fallen out 2 or 3 times. She does really well with it and now refuses to go into a crib or a pack n play. We skipped the bed rails because they are going to have to learn to sleep without them eventually. You always run the risk of them falling out after you removed the bedrails. My husband and I didn't have bedrails, nor did our parents. Personal choice I suppose. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Q: Hey, I've been shopping for a new bed and a lot of the nice ones I'm finding are very low down, is this a trendy thing or do people just think shorter beds look nicer? I'm guessing they're trendy, kind of Japanese influence, but they look great in situ as they aren't the focus of attention in your bedroom. If you want a higher bed go for the traditional divan, but I'm v happy with my low slung bed.
