Q: All the gypsum board joints are cracked what is the reason?
After the decoration, the use of gypsum board to create the shape, and some will crack, because the initial construction, the method should not be or missing steps caused by the main steps are: The gypsum board seams use gypsum powder + engineering glue and paste into the paste Use a fiber crack to attach all the seams. If necessary, need to paste two or three layers. Until the fiber belt thoroughly dry and then put the putty and brush paint. Of course, even if done in accordance with the correct steps, but there will be some cracks, mainly due to weather reasons, dry or wind caused by cracking, there is a very important reason is the shape itself has weight, there will be sedimentation , It will crack, it needs to be settled after the good, the next year to repair the joints, repair the general will not be cracked. I hope my answer is helpful to you.
Q: The plasterboard has a skim coat to flush the joins, does it need to be primed or sealed? It's for a kitchen splashback
You will have to sand the skim off and get the surface smooth. Make sure you get the right adhesive.
Q: Replace rippled plasterboard tape?My house's interior walls are all plasterboard - not plaster on brick. As is usual with modern houses (built 1995) the vertical joints at the corners of the walls are joined by plasterboard tape. Unfortunately due to differential expansion/contraction the tape has become rippled. As I am about to paint a bedroom, should I replace the rippled tape with new plasterboard tape and apply some kind of polyfilla, smooth and sand it, OR expect continued minor movement and fill the corners with some kind of decorators caulk instead of plasterboard tape?I should add I think the movement is because the walls are made of different materials - one is an end wall - plasterboard on brickwork, the other a sloping ceiling, presumably plasterboard nailed to batons?? So, different degrees of exapnsion / contraction according to the temperature rather than settlement.
Inside corner or outside corner? Inside corner use Plaster Patch and more drywall tape. Apply with a putty knife, let dry, sand. You might need a second coat. After that prime, then paint. Outside corner I would use some corner bead then plaster patch or spackle.
Q: How many kinds of gypsum board
Gypsum board with ordinary paper gypsum board, water-resistant plaster board and fire-resistant plaster board three. Ordinary paper gypsum board for indoor walls and ceiling; water-resistant plaster board for the kitchen, bathroom walls and ceiling; refractory plaster board for refractory requirements of high indoor partitions and ceiling. Ordinary paper gypsum board is based on building gypsum as the main raw material, mixed with fiber and admixture constitute the core material, and with the face paper firmly together. The edge of the ordinary gypsum board is rectangular, 45. Chamfer, wedge, semicircular and round. Length of 1800,2100,2400,2700,3000,3300,3600mm, the width of 900,1200 mm; thickness of 9,12,15,18 mm. Products are special goods, first-class goods and three qualified products. Water-resistant plaster board is based on building gypsum as the main raw material, mixed with the amount of water-resistant admixture constitute water-resistant core material, and with water-resistant protective paper firmly bonded together. Water-resistant gypsum board edge shape is divided into rectangular, 450 chamfer, wedge, semi-circular and round five, the length of 1800,2100,2400,2700,3000,3300,3600mm; width 900, lZDOmm; Thickness of 9,] 2,15mm. Products are special goods, first-class goods and three qualified products. Refractory paper gypsum board is based on building gypsum as the main raw material, mixed with eight appropriate inorganic refractory fiber reinforced materials constitute refractory core material, and with the face paper firmly stick together. It has the ability to keep it from breaking when burning under high temperature open flame. The edges of the refractory gypsum board are rectangular, 45 0 chamfered, wedge, semi-circular and rounded. Length of 1800,2100,2400,2700,3000,3300,3600mm; width of 900,1200mm; thickness of 9,12,1 5,18,21,25 mm. Products are special goods, first-class goods and qualified products.
Q: What is the thickness of a single layer of light steel keel gypsum board?
Generally 9,12 MM thick 8,10 is wrong
Q: I'm using these 'wall anchor' bolt things to hold stuff up on the wall. They're the ones that slot through a drilled hole and then when you tighten the screw in them, the part behind the wall gets compressed until it presses against the back of the wall. That's probably irrelevant though...These wall anchors are rated to hold 10kg when used in 10mm thick plasterboard walls. I'm using them in a fibro cement wall which is approx 6mm thick. Seeing as fibro cement walls are way stronger than plasterboard, would you have any idea what the wall anchors could support in them? 20kg? 30kg?I know this is going to be pretty hard to answer accurately, but any educated guesses would be great! Thanks
fibro cement may be stronger but i would guess it is more brittle too. it may crack when you tighten the anchors if you can find a couple of studs and screw directly to these it would help
Q: Is there anyone out that may be able to give a idea as to how much money I should expect to pay to have plaster board installed in a 9ft wide and 101/2 long and approx 9ft highkitchen that is stripped to furing strips and cinderblock. Thank You,,
Since it is a small area you can look for a higher price than average. maybe as much as $30 per sheet(labor only) finished ready to paint.
Q: After moving into my new house, i have noticed that there are lots of places on my celings where the plaster finish has fallen off where the nails are underneath. i have tried already to repair with pollyfiller but the patches never bonded end soon fell off.The heads of the nails have a textured finish, so i think they are the proper nails.I am desperate to sort this problem out so i can begin decorating, so all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
You need to replace the nails with plasterboard screws, then repair what is happening is as you walk around upstairs the joists are springing and moving the plasterboard on the nails or try knocking the nails in This will take the move ment out of the board. Also prime the sufrace to be patched with polybond prior to repair Hope this helps
Q: It doesn't mention the length, but I need it to be at least 3 inches long. Would this one work?
dry wall, plasterboard, wall board, sheet rock, all names for the same thing. Any drill will work on wallboard, or just drive a nail through, that will make a fine hole. Why 3 inches, that is too long? Warning, there could be wires or plumbing inside the wall. That is why you should not drill in more than an inch. Wallboard is less than an inch. If you hit a stud (and that will be obvious) 1 inch into the 2x4 will be plenty for a screw and will hold anything. Also, some new construction uses steel studs, which need special screws. Again, it will be obvious if you hit one of these. .
Q: What is the drawback of the gypsum board?
After flooding easy to yellow, careful water is no problem
