Q:i am making home made sauce from the tomatoes from my garden and am going to can it. Can i add meat?
Yes, you can add meat, as long as you follow proper cooking / canning procedures. They sell canned spaghetti sauce with meat, don't they?
Q:what's the best thing to use to kill a big rat inside a home?
Big Rats
Q:Common garden weeds, life cycle?
the weed seeds will quit sprouting when they have all sprouted. There are a few things you can do to help them not germanate so fast. 1) Mulch the beds at least 3 in. deep (this cuts down on the sunlight some weeds need to germinate) any that do will be fairly spindly and can easily be pulled. Don't till so much. Every time you till you stir up the weed bank and bring more seeds to the surface. There are products you can put out called pre-emergence that make it so the seeds do not sprout. These products can be used 3 weeks after you have set out plants. Note I said plants not seeds. But of course always read the labels and follow the directions of and product you use. good luck
Q:What are some tips for home gardening to attract birds?
The answers to your questions will depend on what birds you hope to see. Cardinals, orioles and robins are not cavity nesters--they need trees and bushes to nest in. Bluebirds and swallows are cavity nesters, and need either old woodpecker holes or boxes. Wrens are also cavity nesters, but they, like bluebirds, need specialized boxes. Food is the next question--unless you want to use feeders, you may want to use plants that provide food. Million Bells, Fuschia, Morning Glories--those will attract hummingbirds. Sunflowers will attract cardinals and bluejays. Robins, bluebirds and swallows are bug eaters, so feeders and plants will typically not attract them. Also consider plants, trees and bushes that will provide food over the winter (such as berries and seeds). Layout will depend on your home and yard. For your own pleasure, you'll probably want to lay out your garden so you can see the birds often from inside.
Q:Think I have a woodchuck burrowed next to my garden. How can i get rid of it before it makes a permanent home
Buy a woodchuck beeper it a rig that is battery powered and you stick the tip in the burrow it sends this godawful beeping noise down the burrow and drives them away and you hardly hear it above ground ask you local gardencenter about them-i am sure they can help you
Q:what are the top 10 stores for shopping for home and garden in the US?
Lowes, Home Depot and garden centers that you see along some of the main roads in your area. We have one called Arbor. Wal Mart has a lot of things.
Q:Anyone have the better homes and gardens new cookbook, I need a recipe?
Easy Baked Beans Source: Better Homes Gardens 4 slices bacon 1/2 c chopped onion 2 (1-pound) cans pork and beans 2 T brown sugar 1 T Worcestershire sauce 1 t prepared mustard Preheat oven to 325° F. Cook bacon until crisp; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings. Crumble bacon. Cook onion in drippings until tender; add with bacon to beans, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and prepared mustard; mix well. Bake uncovered in 1-1/2 quart casserole for 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours. Makes 6 servings
Q:How do I lease a home or condo from a private owner in Palm Beach Gardens,Juno, or Jupiter Beach?
You can use the map on the right side to find rentals in a specific area, and you can get the owners' contact info through that web site. Hope this helps...good luck!
Q:How do you make home made filling for pudding?
She probably just made a cooked vanilla pudding or custard. Search and find a recipe that uses cornstarch or flour as the thickener, depending upon what you have on hand. If you have both, I prefer using cornstarch. Don't forget to keep it stirred so it doesn't stick to the bottom or edges of the pan. Cover with waxed paper or plastic wrap down on the surface when cooling to prevent it from forming a crust! From my old Better Homes Gardens Cookbook: Blancemange or Cornstarch Pudding 3 Tbs. cornstarch 1/3 cup sugar Dash salt 1/2 cup cold milk 1 1/2 cups milk, scalded 1 tsp. vanilla Mix cornstarch, sugar and salt; combine with cold milk. Gradually add scalded milk. Cook in double boiler, stirring until thick; cover; cook 15 to 20 minutes. Add vanilla. If pudding isn't to be molded, increase milk to 2 1/2 cups. The same amount of arrowroot or 6 tablespoons flour may be substituted for the cornstarch.
Q:Home Depot or Lowe's?
Ok, I worked at Home Depot for 4 years, and I could tell you, you couldn't pay me to go back to working for that company. The Depot is so worried about the bottom line that they cut hours back so bad, and yyou can't ever find help. I now work for Lowes, and I love it, we never cut hours, we have the same things Home Depot has, at a lower price, and we have so many things you'll never find at HD. I love Lowes, and not just cause I work there, it's just a great store.
