Q:I asked this in home gardening, but I think this is where it should be asked. I need a quick fix on how to ground outlets so as i can hook up my satalite receiver computers. Cant afford an electrician to rewire a rental, the landlord is no help.

At the very least you might ask if the landlord will allow you to replace the NON grounded receptacles; and possibly at least pay for them. Turning off that breaker and installing a GFC isn't difficult; but I might assume your entire place is a non grounded system. Easy enough to check that too, just shut off the breaker, take the cover plate off any receptacle; and see if there is a third wire/ground; not connected. Best places to have them intially are kitchen and baths Obviously the adapter...3 to 2 prong is available in many places. I'd probably go that route with a power strip that has surge protection as well as a fuse that blows in case of a SPIKE, before any surge gets to the appliance.

Q:We have a big garden, and we often have a few of the neighbours' cats wandering around in it at any one time. My kitten is 10 weeks old and he's had his shot for cat flu, but not for cat AIDS or leukaemia (gets those in a couple of weeks). Is he old enough to be introduced to the garden? And if so, would it be safer to wait until he's vaccinated against AIDS, or doesn't it matter- I can't see how a kitten could get AIDS, to be honest. The vet said there was a lot of cases in our area though. Also, my mum's worried that if we let him out in the garden, the older cats from the local neigbourhood might think he's invading their territory and attack him. Would they do that?I'd like him to be a mostly outdoor cat, as we have a lovely garden but a very small house (and he's trashing it :P) He's very strong and vivacious so I'm not worried about him being afraid of the grass or anything (like my dog is lol)Thanks for your help! :D

Q:What is a good home remedy for bugs in the Garden and Lawn.

Jeez. It all depends on where you are, the weather, what plants you are growing, and what pests you have. A lot of bugs in the garden are beneficial. Some are not. There are a lot of home remedies for bugs out there, but you need to know what type of bug it is. Some can be removed by hand, some by spraying with soapy water, some by spraying with pressurised water... it all depends. There's also biological controls available like encarsia and ladybugs. Next time, pick a plant with a pest and describe the problems. You'll get a better answer.

Q:I want to grow a garden this year and I know bugs/insects will most likely attack my fruits and vegetables. What are some natural products that I can spray on my fruits and veggies to protect them? I don't really want to use any harmful chemicals. I'm already planning to buy granules that keep ants away that I will set around the garden but I have more than just ants to worry about so anything natural/organic to repel all these unwanted pests would be great if you guys can help. Based on 40 yrs of gardening, I have learned, Organic methods work to a limited extent. None are 100% effective. The best you should expect is mild insect damage. All plants have at least one insect that eats the plant, even plants like garlic and tobacco have insects that eat them. Organic pesticides are mostly made of plants such as tobacco nicotine and garlic or flower species. They mask the odor of the plant and confuse the insect that would normally feed on the plant, but insects that feed on the plants the insecticide is made from are attracted to the pesticide and will land on the plants you want to protect. For soil grubs and root maggots, work wood stove ashes (potassium) into the soil. For some reason the root boring insects do not like the stove ashes and leave the garden. Ashes are one of the components of commercial fertilizer and good for your plants. That is why plants grow so well in volcanic soil. For the green part of the plant, cheap dish soap in a 25% solution (1/4 soap 3/4 water) can be sprayed on the plants and will be as affective as any other organic pesticide. Plus it doesn't attract any insects and can be washed off easily before you eat the produce.

It is a large,sometimes round tub..you usually have to either step up a couple of steps to get into it..or down a couploe of steps to get into it..depending on the design..if you have the room, they are very nice and comfortable..and are plenty big enough for two ..lol

Q:i dont have pets however my neighbor in this duplex does have 3 dogs, she is elderly and isnt able to take great care of her pets and they have fleas and use the bathroom indoors all the time. The fleas are infesting my carpet, vacuming doesnt help and i have a newborn and cant bomb the home or use many sprays, i called a pest control center and they dont have an infant safe flea spray please help is there anything i can do!!

I have the same problem as we speak; i think i have a solution; 1st thing 1st;(flea raid Bomb) treat the carpet or flooring area after treating the pet, by; i am mixing all flea and tick liquid sprays to combine to make a powerful mixture; one spray is not nearly as powerful; next sprinkle boric acid on flooring area; if possible vacuum after a couple of hours; wash and shake sheets daily before bed time. perform the white socks test, with a can of raid; every 5 mins check your socks ; if you see a flea spray your sock while on; with raid it will killed them instantly; do not put your pet in the bed with you; and make sure there are no fleas on your self before you get into your bed; repeat process everyday for a couple of weeks and you will see a difference. I am able to get some sleep at night finally; remeber it takes awhile because fleas have eggs that have not hatched yet; eventually you will get them.

Q:When I click on download widget on the Better Homes Gardens website, a loud bell sounds and nothing happens. I want to import that widget to my Yahoo! widget control panel.

The bell means that it will not allow you to transfer that Widget into Yahoo! Firewall. It is because Yahoo! is only familiar with itself and only itself downloads. Hope it helps :)

Q:I have a small garden space it is a little garden area with a foot wide stone path running through it, so it is like two separate garden areas. I wanted to plant green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, lettuce bell peppers, celery, and potatoes along with a few herbs that I would plant inside on the widow ledge in a planter (thyme, rosemary, basil, sage, mint, chives). How should I arrange them? What plants go well as companion plants to these? What other plants climb upwards to maximize my small garden space? I want to have enough of these for my roommate and I to share with a little extra left over. That being said how many of eat plant should I put into my garden?
