You can either push it all the way down into the pan or remove the dipstick tube from the block and get it out of there. - That's the old ABS plastic. It's not used much anymore because of problems with building codes. It's no more toxic than PVC. until a house fire starts it to burn. Stay away from old joints with cement, sterilize as you would with any other ornament and you'll be fine. You can also still buy it new.

- what kind of tubing was it? was it sitting in the garage for months? the plastic taste isnt bad, but if it was sitting in your garage for months, you might wanna run soappy water throught it a few times then run clean water throught it for a few mins....just to be safe
