- Q:Howis emergency lighting differ from regular lighting in design,operation and brightness?
- Emergency lighting is generally battery operated so has limited usage, <6hrs, they also are generally only bright enough to guide people to the exits and/or up and down the stairs. Most systems automatically switch on when the power goes out. If your question is referring to emergency light that you could use after a disaster, that is a different subject all together. I would recommend that you look into the Eton crank/solar lights.
- Q:The lights in the student center keep flickering. Why?
- Because lights do that. We like to think of electric power being constant and reliable, but it's not. Power spikes happen all the time, as do little interruptions. I can be caused by major things affecting the whole power grid, or by someone turning the lights on or off in another room, or anything in between. Light bulbs themselves, which aren't built to last forever, will flicker sometimes for weeks before they finally burn out. Or of course it could be a ghost messing with you. But I'm leaning more towards natural causes.

- Well thats a good question. If you are talking about efficiency, low-pressure sodium (LPS) lamps give the most output power for the input power. And that is why they are used. HID lamps are all very efficient, but LPS gives out 200 lumens/W. The brightness mainly has to do with thier output at the most sensistive color range of human eyes. High-pressure sodium (HPS) gives better color output at the cost of a loss of efficiency. Metal halide lamps give much better color than all other HID classes, hence thier use in stadiums. They have the best quality light/efficiency combo.

- Q:what do you guys think is the best brand of lighter
- Brand meaning one brand only? There are plenty actually and will depend on the use. Zippo for no nonsense lighter that will light even in windy situations, Dunhill, Montblanc or Cartier when you want to show the world how rich you are, Bic disposable lighter(or any lighter) when you always lose things or a friend always borrow lighters from you( and never returns it!). so there, take your pick depending on your personality.

- There are many different types of light filters. In general any type of material you put over a normal light that will produce a different color (through filtering out certain wavelengths) or dim the light is a light filter.
