- Q:Can light spot move faster than light itself?
- Sure, but that in no way means that any wave or particle exceeds the speed of light. Think of a point source of light at the center of a spherical shell. After it's turned on, the light reaches every point on the inside of the shell simultaneously. Is this infinite-speed motion? No. It's just an extreme version of the garden-hose example, in which the point of impact of the water stream moves much faster than the water particles do, giving the illusion of rapid motion of the water. But it's only our vision and brain that interpret it that way.

- Q:how you turn off,the service light(yellow light)
- First, do the service (oil change, etc.) then with ignition off, push and hold the odometer reset button. Turn on the ignition (don't crank the engine over) and continue to hold the button. Several dashed lines will appear where the odometer display is normally. hold the button until these disappear. the light will come back on in about 4500 miles when you turn the engine on. It will stay on for a few seconds then turn off. When the light is on all of the time, you have reached the max oil change interval.
- Q:explain why we notice the Doppler Effect for sound but not light.
- The word notice is the key. In a boiler shop you drop a needle on the floor. Do you hear it? Yet do the same thing in a quiet room and you hear it easily. The amount of the change in the boiler shop is not sufficient for you to notice it. The same is true with the doppler effect. The percentage change for sound is quite significant for objects moving on the surface of the earth. The speed of the objects is a noticeable fraction of the speed of sound. But the speed of light is so high that normal objects you interact with do not have a speed that is a noticeable fraction of the speed of light. So we are only able to observe the doppler effect for astronomical objects that have far higher relative velocities.

- Glowing lights are using energy, just not electricity. They are utilizing chemical energy, and once it runs out, so do they (i.e. glowsticks) Light is a form of energy, and you cannot create energy. (1st law of thermo) In short, no. You cannot have light without energy.
- Q:Physics laws for light only apply to light in a vacuum. So is light affected by friction? Light is energy right, not matter?
- Given that light-speed is constant, then no. HOWEVER......as light passes thru various media is slows to a speed given by v = c/n. v is the velocity, c is the speed of light in a vacuum, and n is the index of refraction of the media. In essence this retardation could be thought of as a friction, but mechanically speaking it is not. Friction is the physical contact of one object with another where material is exchanged or removed causing heat to be generated as a by-product of the interaction of the bodies. Light interacts with media but thru the electromagnetic field. This isn't necessarily a 'physical' contact, but energy is exchanged and the speed does change, so this is similar to friction and as close to such a thing as you can get for light. Hope this helps.
