- Q:I have a indoor palm that needs more light than it's currently getting. I just bought a tube grow light for plants from wal mart. My palm needs medium light, so how long should i leave the light on it? and how close or far away should the light be?
- If artificial light is the main or only source of light for plants, the lamps should be lit 12 to 14 hours per day and be 6 to 12 inches from plants. Blooming plants will require up to 16 hours and should be no more than 4-6 inches away from lights. It is important that some indoor plants have a regular light/dark schedule. I hope this is what you were looking for.

- Most new cars will disable the fog lights when you switch to high beams. Nothing wrong with having more lights on to get the attention of that teen texting. Edit: I didn't realize most states it is illegal. I can't imagine how two little lights at the bottom of your car impairs peoples vision. I guess someone got bees in their bonnet about my texting joke. Seriously though, there are enough people on the road not paying attention, and if having my fogs on catches someone from pulling out in front of me or hitting my car and protects mine or my familes life then write me the ticket.

- Emission of light is just one way to say that something is creating light. There are lots of ways to create light, think about a flashlight, an incandescent light bulb, a candle flame, an LED, fluorescent light bulb, a halogen light bulb, light from the sun, light from the moon, light from a spark, etc. hope this helps

- Different makes of the spiral lights give off different tones. Some are a harsh white, others are a softer yellow. Try different makers till you find the tone you like. If you want to go back to regular bulbs, go for a full spectrum bulb.

- Why isn't light static? I suppose because it travels over distance, and that involves time. Light cannot travel at less than the speed of light (QED) so a photon is massless - if theories disagree, we have to chose one. Let me think! Static light? Consider that light, to you and me (and cameras etc), is a sensory perception. Yet a sensory perception exists between the plates of a capacitor without movement - it is tension, not movement. Light is tension, therefore is static.
