Q:I am making curtain tie backs out of rope...if any of you have suggestions, please help. You could do this a couple of ways. You could just get window hardware that takes the place of a tieback, that matches your drapery hardware and the curtain/drape just hooks over that rather than using an actual tieback. To use your tieback, you need a hook that will hold the two ends. Depending on how you want the curtains/drapes to fall and the fullness of them will depend on where you put the hook - further out from the window if very full. Yes, generally you would just leave the tieback there, hanging out, until you use them again. Usually though, where you place the hook will allow the drapes/curtains to cover the tieback when not in use (as well as the hook).

i think i would go a mature color verses something trendy or teenville that will date you and be boring soon a tan..on all 4 walls and white celing and white baseborads will give your room a real clean look and it goes with almost anything you want to add but are not colors that you want to put tacky posters up on... i would do one wall with family and friends photos...enlarge to 8x10 and frame and hang an odd number on another wall i would place shelves high and place things that interest you awards or certificates...photos of you in action on another wall where your desk area is place a calendar and meno board a colorful bedspread and throw carpet with accenting lamps and trash can could look cool i think if you look at a color wheel and know that accenting colors are across the wheel form the color you like... also go to lowes on line and you can look at paint colors... good luck it is a tough choice *_*

Curtains don't have to be darker than the walls, I like it when they are lighter, it makes the window look airy. There are no rules like that, at least none that apply to every situation. If you don't want to match them to the carpet, then you could get blue or green to match the couch. You could find a pattern that has a natural cream background with a blue and green pattern and tie it all in together. If your couch is an ornate pattern, like floral, I would go with something simple, like stripes.
