Q: How much is bronze worth per pound?
Phosphor Bronze Scrap Price
Q: a sheet of copper that is 40.0 long and 6.00cm wide has a mass of 71.36g. the density od Cu is 8.92 g/ml. use this information to calculate the thickness of this sheet of metalcan you give me the answer with the math process? thanks
Check with a plant nursery - there's always the scare that it's mixed with asbestos, so maybe they don't sell it anymore.
Q: This is the repair estimate that I have recd. from AC guy for fixing one (of the two) AC units in my house. The problem is I have a leak in evaporator coil, the evaporator coil will be replaced as well (I dont have the $$ for that as yet). My question is are these other costs reasonable?Disposal of old unit150Duct modification275Clean condenser coli150overflow switch150drain pan150tape mastic seal on plumbing250
No, all of that is completely insane. Disposal? Hun, if you cut those things up you get copper and copper plus aluminum. That MAKES you money. Shouldn't cost anything. Duct Modification. Well, depending upon how the original A-coil was installed, it could be expensive, but 275 bucks for a little sheet metal work? Please. If he has to build a new plenum or install an A-frame box, it's different, but 275 bucks? No way. Cleaning the condenser coil for 150 bucks? How hard is it to spray some junk on some coils then wash it off with a hose? Using YOUR WATER, no less! 150 bucks? I think not. Overflow switch for 150? You gotta be kidding me. It's a safety that's included with the condensate pump. A new drain pan for the A-frame for 150? Dear, the pan comes with the A-frame itself, it isn't an add on item. Taping a few copper pipes and sealing up the plenum for 250? You gotta be nuts. If his 275 dollar duct modification job is so shyty that he has to use that much tape, you don't need him anyways. Nothing about that bid makes a bit of sense. Get another. Tell that guy to hit the bricks and find someone that can detect the leak and knows how to braze. No need to replace a thing. Have that man braze it up, hook up some gauges, top off, and go away for about 200 bucks. Total.
Q: Can copper plate be magnetically insulated?A piece of copper in between the magnet and the iron magnet can absorb iron: Excuse me?
Shielded room. For large units or in the control room, usually copper or steel hexahedron. When shielding requirements are low, a layer or double layer metal mesh to replace the metal plate.
Q: These include aqueous sulfuric acid, lead sheet and lead dioxide powder. How can i create a simple conducting cell just to test voltage?
The sulfuric acid should be pretty concentrated. Auto batteries use about 35% H2SO4 by mass so that the ionization of the acid does not go to completion. You need HSO4 1+ ions for an effective cell. You should probably do this experiment in a sturdy glass container. Pb sheet will be the anode, and PbO2 will be the cathode. If your PbO2 is loose powder, you will need to contain it somehow. I suggest packing the power stiffly in a test tube around a graphite core (you can obtain the graphite from thick pencil refills or an old lantern battery). Now that you have an anode and a cathode, you can assemble the cell. Add your concentrated acid to the glass container (keep it well below the edge of the container). Attach conducting wire (copper wire is good, if you have it) to a piece of lead sheet, and sink into the solution. Be careful not to let the wire touch the solution! Attach another wire to the graphite sticking out of your test tube. Lower the test tube into solution until the Pb02/graphite is soaked, being careful not to let the wire touch the solution or to let the tube tip over. Now, connect each end of the wire to a voltmeter. There's your voltage. If you don't get a reading, try switching the wires. Notes of caution: - If you see bubbles, it is probably hydrogen gas. Take care to ventilate your experiment to prevent an explosive build-up. - The acid is very corrosive. Be careful in handling and use eye protection before you even enter the lab. - Lead is toxic. Don't lick your fingers. Also do the world a favor and find some safe way to dispose of the PbSO4 lead solution you are generating. Dissolved lead is far more toxic than the solid metal.
Q: Pl. give me links about corrosion control and cathodic protection in?
The science of cathodic protection (CP) was born in 1824, when Sir Humphrey Davy made a presentation to the Royal Society of London: The rapid decay of the copper sheeting on His Majesty's ships of war, and the uncertainty of the time of its duration, have long attracted the attention of those persons most concerned in the naval interest of the count. . I entered into an experimental investigation upon copper. In pursuing this investigation, I have ascertained many facts . to illustrate some obscure parts of electrochemical science. seem to offer important application. Davy succeeded in protecting copper against corrosion from seawater by the use of iron anodes. From that beginning, CP has grown to have many uses in marine and underground structures, water storage tanks, gas pipelines, oil platform supports, and many other facilities exposed to a corrosive environment (see Corrosion Costs Study findings). Recently, it is proving to be an effective method for protecting reinforcing steel from chloride-induced corrosion. I hope these links help. Best of luck with it.
Q: My electroscope wont work?
What you need to test the electroscope is a charged insulator. Rub a balloon on your hair and bring it near. Try a length of plastic pipe rubbed on some clothing. A polar plus jumper that has been worn over synthetic clothing often produces big static charges. This might also work. As long as two things are right your foil will repel. It must be very soft at the joint so it can move. If the foil is crinkled in any way it will not work well. And the electroscope must be well insulated. A bad choice of materials for the insulator will destroy its function.
Q: Its a long story but i have no idea what a transform is. and not the robot things in the movies. I apparently have one attached to my desk. R they supposed to buzz if theyre used. My dad said that was the source of the buzzing since ive been using it lately and have been hearing it for a few nights. I thought it was a bug or something. I unplugged it about an hour ago but he buzzing continues. Like right now it is. But if anyone knows anything about transformers could u tell me? Or insects the buzz electronically and stay in one hiding place for four days now?
A transformer in this instance is probably used to change your main voltage to or from 115v to 220v. In the context of your question, it is made from many thin iron sheets (laminations) around which is wound a coil of copper wire and through this passes your mains power at 60Hz in USA. The buzz you hear is the laminations vibrating with the changing current. They should not normally buzz, this is due to the lams being a bit loose, not ideal but no big problem. If it gets too bad you have the choice of replacing it or varnish impregnating it if it is something special. If the buzz is still there when you unplug it, then there is another one lurking somewhere! Some flourecent light will buzz too. In fact anything that uses a mains transformer can buzz.
