Just Google growing onions or growing peppers. And, yes, they are much better homegrown. Vidalia is a brand that is very mild and sweet, and won`t make your eyes water. It is mild enough to be eaten like an apple. If planting sets, the yellow onions are usually a little hotter than the white or the red, but are better for long term storage. The reds are the poorest keepers.

The coupon needs to be an original that is still valid (not expired). Most Lowe's coupons have terms and conditions, and Home Depot will probably use those.
