Q:I want a duel exhaust system on my mx3. it is a four cylinder engine, with a full stock system on it. I want to know if I can have a dual exhaust system put on, and if so what would be the pros and cons of doing such?
Have you ever looked at your car from underneath? It would be a good idea to become familiar with where things are under your car. I'm not sure about a MX-3, but my FC3S RX-7 has the appropriate hangar locations for dual exhaust. I believe that you should get your car up on 4 jack stands (not just a jack, that would be VERY stupid and dangerous). Don't try to take the easy way out and use ramps either. It only takes a nudge to make a car roll back down them. Once it is safely supported by 4 jack stands in the proper locations (consult your owners manual or a good MX-3 Forum for details), slide under the back and follow where the exhaust pipe goes (a cold engine is a good idea for this, to prevent burns). Then look at the opposite side for a mirror-image of what the exhaust pipe is attached to. If it is a mirror image like it is on my RX-7, it should be pretty easy to do duals. The plus to dual exhaust is less backpressure if done correctly, but it means adding some weight to the car. Usually, it's less than 30lbs more, depending on where the Y-pipe will be and how the exhaust system is routed in general. I'd still recommend asking your fellow MX-3 owners though, since they would know more than I would about your specific application.
Q:i have a 08 r6 looking to buy a full exhaust system sounds awsome but also has good performance aspects
dude those new Yamaha's have titanium pipesjust get a different slip on and call it a day. if anything take out the exhaust valve thats located in the pipe its self and go get a power commander
Q:Okay so i had a question earlier about whether to put an exhaust on my 300c (3.5L). Now my other question is should i put a whole system on it? or just a muffler? Also which do you guys reccomendim looking for that nice mean and clean sound. i know my friend put one on his trailblazer ss, sometimes it sounds mean as hell and other times it sounds like the cars about to die out. thats not what i want. i want that mean sound, but not too too loudif you guys get what i mean lol. thank you.
The sound depends on the muffler design mainly. For better sounding exhausts, you could use a Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler. They come in a few styles in which the muiffler shop can help you pick the best one for the sound you like. The shop I use will put a muffler on and let me test it, if its not what I want they will cut it out and put in a different one for a small labor charge until I like it. Good Luck
Q:iv been googling for hours to mixed results so here my delimma. i have a 2008 scion tc and my goals are to increase power, get a deeper louder sound, and possibly a small mpg improvement. I was looking at injen and magnaflow exhausts but leaning toward the injen. what kind of improvements will ACTUALLY I see? Do exhausts make mpg worse? also i know cold air intakes dont do much for new cars but i need a final answer about thier preformance from a scion person. Money is tight so i cannot afford both. Tell me everything you know please. I gotta ask for it for a xmas present :D
catback exhaust will raise up your hp and whp/torque while lowering your gas mileage. its not a significant amount, but it will lower the gas mileage. replacing the stock exhaust is better for the car in terms of hp gains since there is a wider tube so more exhaust fumes can leave the car faster, thus creating more hp. the intake doesn't do anything for you, really. it's more for cosmetics if anything else. go with whatever you want, the sound will be similar (but not the same for each intake) in all honesty, you will see more hp and whp/torque gains from a complete catback exhaust system - which is what i would recommend you get first/ask for your xmas present. it increases your hp and makes your car sound better. you could get a cold air intake, but it won't really help you at all. it doesn't really even do anything for your car, in my opinion i think that its a waste of money.
Q:I have an old 65 mustang that is waiting to be restored ( i am trying to keep it in repairable condition from now till when i get out of college which is 5 years). Any advice on rust management is welcome and any advice on refurbishing is welcome also. But, my question is. My exhaust system is rattling. I fixed the bracket that held the end of the muffler in place ( bolted to the bottom side of trunk) but, towards the middle second of the car, where the muffler has a wide, jug like section, it rattles. Is this a big deal? What can i do to fix it? Advice please!
It is only a big deal if it bothers you. But I would get a smaller muffler to get rid of the problem. As for the rust, you can get rust converter at Auto Zone.
Q:im looking to buy a exhaust system that increases my hp and wont sound ricerish on my 03 Eclipse GT Spyder. so maybe staying away from a catback exhaust. maybe a Borla or Injen. what kind would you recommend? and also a question i have about exhaust systems in general. would aftermarket exhausts cause the car the use more gas?? in other words lower mpg.thank you for your help
The mentally unstable guy you find at McDonald's who puts his hand down is underwear in front of you and doesn't pack your food!
Q:i have a 2007 chevy avalanche lt and i need to know what the tightest sounding, deep, rumbling exhaust system is that makes peoples heads turn and say wow i wish i was that cool. hahaha. Can anyone hook me up?? Thanks (price does kindof matter)
Noise doesn't make you cool, but for the avalanche it can already be a cool looking vehicle especially if you tint the windows and get some nice custom wheels and tires. As far as the exhaust I really like a turbo style muffler, get dual exhaust and put echo chambers on the ends of the exhaust for a really deep mellow dont screw with me growl.
Q:I‘ve just been wondering and I‘ve considered a cherrybomb exhaust system, I‘d just like to know what you all think.
The stock one is just fine and it won't piss everyone else off as you drive by.
Q:I was wonder if I do that would I have to cut or do anything to the exhaust to make it fit on and if it could go on my 3G Eclipse GT because I heard that you can do that to get a dual exhaust, Please explain in detail on how to do it and would it increase the hp in my Eclipse?
Jay i hope you realize the exhaust system from a 2nd gen 3kgt vr4 is about 75lbs. Now you want to improve performance right? Obviously adding 75lbs isn't going to help you. The 3kgt vr4 exhaust is one single pipe going to a butterfly valve or exhaust cutout valve. It will only change the sound of the exhaust, it really doesn't do anything for performance. Figure the 3kgt vr4 is making 300hp at the crank and is forced induction, your motor is na and considerably less. Even though your motor has the same 6g72 block, it's not going to work with that exhaust. I suggest you look into maybe an air intake and a performance exhaust made for your car, make sure you get one with standard flanges and gaskets so you have a tight leak free exhaust. You can also look into removing or gutting the catalytic converter if you don't have to pass emissions. I know a lot of people may not agree with me on that one but the cat is a serious restriction in your exhaust. Other performance upgrades could be a bigger or overbored throttle body, cams or even converting to forced induction. Just do your research, there's a lot of options with that motor. If you have any questions or want help with research feel free to contact me via yahoo im. The option is on my yahoo answers profile.
Q:really, what are the main differences and why is one better than the other? Which will gain more power, and have a better exhaust note? I have a 2000 toyota Celica gt if it helps
I don't know of any tricks for remembering. It's just something you pick up after drawing tons of blood, especially since most tests will go in a serum separator tube.
