Q:I have a small hole due to rusting right before the muffler, and it is also a little rusted near what I believe is where the catalytic converter is, it is a bulge in the exhaust pipe with vents on the bottom, towards the front of the car. I was hoping it was just the muffler that was making the car louder, but it's not, so does the whole thing have to be replaced, and if so, how much will it cost me?Car:1990 honda civic EX sedan 1.6L (probably original exhaust system due to condition)
My suggestion would be to buy sections of pipe from a parts store if you don't want to replace the whole thing. If your whole exhaust is rotted out, this wont work. As for those vents, you could probably do away with them and it wouldn't negatively affect the car. If it gives you too much back-pressure, remove the catalytic converter. You'll have to put it back on before you take it to get inspected though, or they'll fail you. You could also just cut the top off the converter, remove the innards, and then weld the top back on so it looks like a converter's there and that'll be less maintenance for you. If you do that, save the innards and sell them when scrap metal prices go back up. You'll get a pretty penny for that stuff.
Q:Just a standard exhaust sytem (steel pipes, catalytic converter, muffler, etc). About how long does it usually last before needing replacing. My has some surface rust on the entire pipe, and is flaking some around the connections to the muffler and other areas.I live in northeast tn by the way, and it is a standard sedan car.
Don't know about Factor exhaust systems but the factory exhaust system should last for 10years and less in salty areas before anything should need changing
Q:I got my first car which is a 98 civic ex coupe, Auto(unfortanatly) It has the peanut stock exhaust on it and i would like to put a new one. I want one that does to make that much sound that sounds like a fart can. But one that is if not completly quiet but can not be heard miles down the road. I just want an exhaust system to get rid of the old one. Thanks
Opinion. Something with gasket or fuel pump or something. Demaged catactlictic? If it was something like a sensor itd stay on. If i was u i woulda gotten fixed a while ago. But have you noticed if the car wastes a bit more gas than it should? Well anyways, u should be fine. But get it fixed within a month cuz a drive that far, ur guna makeit a bit worse
Q:so i guess a muffler is just part of the whole thing what are all the parts then, what exactly does the muffler do just change the sound.so my gt;? is if i change the muffler it‘ll just change the sound right? ok so what brand makes quiet fuel efficient systems? (thanks for all the answers)
the muffler goes all the way from the engine to the can at the back. first you have the headers, or exhaust manifold then this is usually bolted to a cat. or catylitic converter and then a streight pipe back to the can. and yes changin any of these parts will change the sound. the bigger the more power more flow more power and more fuel consumption. pretyy much the smaller the hole the less fuel and the quieter. as far as brand just type it into OKorder. with your car and the keyword EOM. which means stock part. good luck
Q:I want an exhaust system for my camaro that has a low, aggressive sound but also not insanely expensive. Preferably under $600. Thanks
Just say no to glasspacks on LS1's! I would save a little more money up over the next several months, and get a Borla cat back system for the car. Its not necessarily insanely expensive, but it ain't the cheapie system, either. Flowmaster is good, but razzy in comparison to the Borla. In deference to the other posts, Magnaflow is good, and I even had a Magnaflow on my 2nd gen Camaro, but it isn't the best note. Remember also - you're talking about an exhaust SYSTEM, not just the muffler - you'll want the mandrel bent pipes and proper fitment under your fourth gen. The Borla system is the best combination of quality and sound, and worth the extra few dollars. Cheaping out on your car's exhaust now will only disappoint you later - don't be tempted to go for something a little less just because you can afford it!
Q:I will be designing an exhaust system for the AMC 258. For performance reasons, I have decided to keep the pipes from the collectors for cylinders (1,2,3) and (4,5,6) separate until I run out of car length where I will then place an X-pipe. This is the best pattern for the given firing order. My question is regarding the X-pipe. It seems to me that I could achieve the same result by plumbing the two pipes into one muffler with one outlet and two inlets rather than running an X-pipe into a muffler with two inlets and two outlets. My second question is regarding catalytic converters. Where is the best place in the exhaust line for them, and would I be best suited using two separate converters for my application?
I am not sure ,but i think the catalytic converter needs to be close to the heat source for them to work. why not duel exhaust all the way back?
Q:I would like to purchase an aftermarket exhaust system for my car. I have done some research and have found a Pacesetter Monza. A Borla exhaust part 11734. A Mandrel custom made exhaust. And a Trubendz custom made exhaust. I would like the exhaust to be relatively quiet because I still want to be able to hear someone while hitting the gas but i don‘t want it to be stock. I want some grunt. Plus i would like to have good airflow and a solid all round exhaust. Please help me find the right exhaust for my needs. I have about 300-350$. I will be installing myself.
Post the lyrics. and use tunecore to get them on itunes.
Q:I just got a cat-back exhaust system on my car. if i were to get a new cat-forward exhaust would it make my car faster?
probably not man just get a bigger exhausst my catback is 4 1/2 diameter get a bigger one if u want more flow
Q:I am thinking to put the exhaust system on my car. Does anyone have any idea how‘s that?
vw exhaust system is for vw, no other. Would be too much like work as it is metric.
Q:I‘m thinking about putting a dc sports exhaust on my 07 focus se sedan but I‘m not sure if a dc exhaust will fit.any help is appreciated
I really like Mary Kay. It leaves my skin nice and smooth.
