Q:im confused which wires are what, theres two wires...no colors?
I need to know is the wires silver brass colors the silver should be the hot wire .If you live in the states call me at mike'sdiy 301-784-6227 ill walk you through it step by step.
Q:Having some trouble wiring fixture it seems to just stay on with the switch doing nothing.. here's the deal I have three different wires coming from ceiling power in, power out, and I believe switch.. there was a priovious light there so I know its correct just don't what wires go with what all help will be appreciated thanks
You have the incoming hot wired to the light, bypassing the switch. If you don't know what you're doing, get someone that does.
Q:I recently took out my old ceiling fan, and now there is a Black, Red, And White Wire hanging from the ceiling, I bought a track light that has a box with a Green, White, and Black wire in it. Which wires am i supposed to connect,It's for the light Switch, and I'm not sure when the house was built, its a Reading, PA Row house.
This is really simple... The RED is the HOT WIRE for one of the two switches The BLACK wire is a hot Wire for the other of the two switches. The WHITE is the RETURN for both and of course the BARE COPPER WIRE is the ground. So... terminate the red.. Connect black to black, white to white and copper to copper. The switch that controlled the BLACK circuit will now run the track lights.
Q:Im installing a motion sensor which comes with 3 wires, red black and white and want to connect it to a indoor light that only comes with 2 wires white and black. How do I go about installing them and powering them?
Hook the white wire to the white on the fixture and the white coming in. The black coming in gets wired to the black wire on the detector. The red gets hooked the the black in the fixture.
Q:How does this work? Does the missile drag a wire?

Q:i want technical names of the electrical equipments rheostat, wire wound
there are no other names for them. these names are not used by laymen. they are used by everyone from students to advanced engineers.
Q:im gettin a amp and sub for my car and was wondering how would i make a wiring kit for it ... i have basic knolage of wires but thats about it thanks in advance
the wiring kit is usually: - low gauge cable of certain length (x2) - rca cable of a certain length (x1) - small power connect cable (x1) seeing as these things are already pretty much in their simplest form, I don't see the practicality of making your own wiring kit. just buy one.
Q:I just tore my old shed down, that was wired for electrical. though I never used power out there There is size 10 wiring (two wires), running from the house to where my shed was. I then bought a Tough Shed from The Home Depot and put it where my old shed was. While working on wiring my new shed for electricity, I turned power off to the entire house.I am trying to install power to the shed and I spliced the size 10 wires to size 14 (three cable, includes a ground) which I have connect to an electrical outlet in the shed, but once I turn the main power box back on, the circuit that runs power to the shed keeps tripping off. Am I missing something here? Thanks
Thats big # 10. Sounds like somebody was running a welder or air compressor. But you can still use it. Do Not forget your GFCI outlet.
Q:how to wire the alternator for a 77 mustang
Ever thought about just putting a one wire alternator in there and doing away with the external voltage regulator. Its a nice upgrade.
Q:OK - I removed my old light switch and can see that there are only 2 wires coming out of the wall to be found - 1 white and 1 black. There are absolutely no other wires that I can see back there. The dimmer switch has 2 black wires and 1 green. I'm really not sure what to do. I tried to connect the 2 black ones to the black one and the green wire to the white wire. I admit this wasn't the smartest thing, but thought I'd try. Got nothing. Any help is super appreciated.
For one thing, first things first, TURN YOUR POWER OFF if you haven't already. All you have to do is connect the black to the black and the white to white. The green is a ground wire which allows a certain amount of protection (when installed and properly connected to a grounded metal surface/point). In many older buildings, this third wire does not exist in the wall. Without seeing your issue, I couldn't speak directly, but I wouldn't worry about the green. Cut it off or let it hang. When connecting the black and white though: PLEASE make sure you are twisting the bare wires together, screwing on a wire -nut TIGHT and then wrapping the nut and related 2 wires (black and black or white and white) in black electrical tape. If you're not familiar with or don't have the wires, wirenut connectors and tape, take the time to go get them. You REALLY need the right tools for this job. Don't take chances with electricity as a little lightning bug used to say. When you go to get the wirenuts at Home Depot or Lowes, ask the guy in Electric Dept to show you how it works. If you're still unsure, go ahead and call an electrician. It won't be that expensive and it's not something you want to get wrong.
