Q:What are the best reasonably priced HEPA air filters out there? Is it best to get one that attached to a furnace (but then its only running when the heat or AC is on) or a few smaller ones and move them room to room? Also, I understand that it is imprtant to try and vacuum with a HEPA vacuum. Any advice on something out there that is reasonably priced (and reasonably priced filters). For both, I want to get something that is not too cheap (ie something that actually works) but not top of the line (I am not running a hospital.. just want to increase the quality of the air we breathe at home.
I would go with one attached to your furnace. Most thermostats have a setting that will make the fan run continuously, not just when heat or ac is called for. I think that would be cheaper to buy, run and replace filters for than trying to run several small portable units. We had a Hoover upright with HEPA filter that seemed to work pretty well for a mid-priced vacuum. Bert
Q:I need one of these steam vacuum carpet cleaner as soon as possible, but i am not able to go shop local so can you please tell me where they can be found online
rent one at the local store. walmart.. ace hardware etc........... a lot less expensive than buying and immrdiate use you wont have to wait for shipping
Q:They were invented to suck dirt and dust anyway, right ? Geez !! And why did mine have to break ????
The price is demand driven Most people these days don't sweep their floor, most prefer to just walk around with a vacuum cleaner No matter how expensive, people will still buy them
Q:I'm a guy who isn't extremely familiar with vacuum cleaners so maybe someone can help. I was running around the house with my Kenmore Progressive vacuum cleaner and I accidentally pushed the adjustable thingy that lets you set the height of the vacuum. This adjuster thing is about halfway down the silver tube. The second I touched it, the carpet cleaning part shut off so it's just sucking air. I pushed everything together as hard as I could trying to get it to come back on but with no luck. I had been vacuuming for quite a while. Do these things shut off when they get too hot and stay off until they cool? It seems kind of fishy that it died right when i touched the adjuster thing though. Any ideas?
I interpret your description to mean that the motor that drives the beater brush stopped running. If that motor is really an electric motor (and not one of those turbine brush drives), and the problem of it shutting off when you hit the height adjustment is related, then it would seem reasonable to look for a broken wire. One other possibility is that maybe the brush dug into the carpet (did you adjust it downward?) and stalled the motor and that might have caused it to burn out (usually a fusible link in the motor windings), or with luck, it's just a breaker that you can reset. If it was a thermal protection device that tripped, it would had to have been quite a coincidence, because if it tripped from an over-temperature condition, it would not likey happen so instantantly after you hit the adjustment control.
Q:Currently I have an Electrolux 2 in 1 Pronto but I am not satisfied with this vacuum cleaner because I have to leave it plugged in for hours to charge and recently it has not been picking up the dirt very well.. I use it to clean a linoleum floor. Can anyone suggest a good vacuum cleaner for a linoleum floor that does not have to be plugged in? Thanks.
The miele stick vac is great, it plugs in and has tons of power. Miele, Riccar and Sebo would be the best ones you can buy Be careful of consumer reports, they don't rate everything and honestly half the time they're wrong.
Q:I've never had one so any opinion would really help.THANKS...
Pros are what people like about a particular product. Cons are what they do NOT like. I have a Roomba Discovery 4220 (black) I like it very much. I have hardwood floors, as well as carpet. It does very well on both. It runs about 2 hours on a charge the AUTOMATICALLY returns itself to the charger to recharge. You can't get any more convenient than that. Just make sure everything (Clothes, Wires, etc) are off the floor, empty the cannister before each use, and let it go!
Q:nan
Oh boy, open a can of worms. Kirby lovers swear by theirs, Miele swear they are the best, Dyson lovers, ditto. Consumer Reports does not like any of those three. The Sears one (which one I don't remember) got good reviews. I've had an Oreck, it was OK for quick jobs, but dog hair did a number on the brushes and in turn tore the rubber belt. I got real good at replacing them. Eventually the machine fell apart as I was cleaning dog hair so frequently. I have a Rainbow which I like for baseboards, walls, etc and some carpet cleaning. However, my new Dyson does outdo the Rainbow on the carpet but I hate it for walls, area rugs, etc. (it is super powerful but awkward) The Dyson clogs with dog hair and their instructions aren't real good about finding the clog......it wasn't where it said it was but when I discovered where it was and super easy to access, Dyson 28 is back to being a good friend.......for awhile.
Q:can commercial vacuum cleaners be used a home ?I dont know if their high speed and powerful motors can damage the carpet at my home.I am thinking of buying oreck but dont know if I buy thier commercial vacuum cleanerthey can damage my carpet.Let me know if you have any experience with those.
commercial vacuum cleaners are usually just bigger and more powerful. i have one that i got at work and i use it at home all the time
Q:How electrolux differ from any other vacuum cleaner and what are the unique features?
I love an electrolux they last a long time and they really work. But they can be heavy so if weight is a problem, go with an Oreck. But I Love the way the lux has that long vacuum head. And a reset button if something gets stuck and you have to pull it out. its great. I would`t go bag less they just seem to lose suction over time. Unless your willing to invest in a dyson.
Q:i am trying to decide which toddler vacuum cleaner to get my daughter for christmas. i've been reading reviews and still can't decide. we have a dyson which we *love* but the childs dyson has the worst reviews of all, it seems. does anyone have the kids dyson, hoover, dirt devil... or any of the other ones? i really just want the one that actually works the best. we have 4 dogs and my 2 y/o actually will go around with our handheld and go straight for dog hair to 'clean up.' i'd like to get her up off her knees and be able to do the 'push and pull' with a real vacuum like mommy and daddy do since that's what she really wants... plus using the dustbuster has her hands closer to the brushes than i'd like.
