Q:When the ignition is turned off the windshield wipers still work.: More than likely it is going to be the wiper motor itself has shorted out ie. contacts or points

Q:I have removed plastic cap nut but can not pull arm off. The reason is right arm stopped moving so I have to get the grill off that is covering Mtr.: If you have already removed the cap and nut then just take a flat head screwdriver and pop it up to remove the wiper arm. This should work if everything is disconnected from the wiper motor.

Q:Are there any manufacturers who make cars which address this problem, like maybe heat on the wipers? I‘ve driven General motors products for years, and have always had the same problem. I‘m getting tired of stopping and manually cleaning the front windshield, because the wipers are too frozen out of shape to confornm to the windshield.: The good ol smack the wiper against the windshield! You never know, some people are that cheap. Haha. Putting you on the map means they are going to make you famous or well know to the public. It could range anywhere from getting you a record deal to murdering you in a horrific way that makes the news. Usually it's the former though. Hopefully.

Q:I had a bad wiper blade on my passenger side. Bought a new one. The correct size. Now when I turn on my wipers they go oncefold back down almost all of the way and look like they are almost hitting eachother and then will not work. Any suggestions? Very confused woman!!!: It would help to know the exact year of this Buick Rendezvous, because the size you may have installed may be incorrect, as I recall their was a recall done for the Rendezvous where the wipers had an issue hitting each other at the bottom at the rest position here's what comes from GM (owner of buick company): Condition Some owners may comment that intermittently the tip of the passenger side windshield wiper blade contacts or touches the driver's wiper blade when they are near the base of the windshield after replacement. This condition may be most noticeable if there is an accumulation of snow built-up below the blades at the base of the windshield. Correction Replace the passenger side wiper blade with a new blade that is approximately 50 mm (2 in) shorter. This new blade has an overall length of approximately 22 in compared to the original blade which is approximately 24 in long on the passenger side. If that doesn't fix the issue its time to go to a mechanic who can adjust the motor mechanism in the wipers in order to allow them to lie flat at the correct time and position. Best of luck

Q:My windshield wipers are stuck in the upright position on my 2001 Pontiac Montana and they wont return to the right position. They work fine when I‘m using them, but when I turn them off they return to the upright position. I took out the fuse, and that is not the problem. Any ideas on why they would stay that way and any suggestions as to how to fix it would be great.: You probably have moisture on the circuit board that is bolted to the wiper motor. You can take it off and clean it with electrical contact cleaner and reseal it with a little RTV when you put the cover back on. That is the same problem I had with mine. I found a new motor and board at NAPA for $80.00 but tried cleaning mine first and it has been fine for 4 months now. If you do try to clean it make sure you mark where the wiper cam and wiper motor shaft so you line them back up right when you put them back together.

Q:I have a 93 chevy cheyenne, and the switch to turn on the wipers does not work. i replaced the switch and the motor, and still nothing i took it to a shop and they told me something about new wiring that it will cost me around $800. i do not have that kind of money. is there any way of connecting the wipers directly to the battery so that they are always on? When i don‘t need them i will just disconnect the cable from the battery.: Things are not made the way you suggest, drop that idea. What you can do (or better: have done by an expert or experienced and equipped DIYer) is: 1 - chart the wiper circuit (battery, fuse, switch/regulator, motor, ground) 2 - bypass the original switch with properly sized wiring and terminals 3 - install a properly rated (Amps) single- or multi-position alternative switch in a position which is not hazardous in case of collision (toggles in wrong position can pierce skulls); 4 - connect, test. 5 - keep the record of what was done - in a year's time you won't remember all the details. Things are a bit more complicated for multi-speed / intermittent wipers.
