Q:i have an 07 ford focus, and today on the way to school, i noticed the light illuminated, and i pulled off the road to call my dad since he's car guy. but what does it mean?and how dangerous is it?it was flickering, from dim light to bright orange light, and sometimes flickered off.what should i do?

Electrical tape works well to hide that light so it won't bother you anymore.

Q:ok so recently my car will not hold a charge. i have to jump start it every morning before work. they tested it at auto zone and said the battery tested ok and the alternator was over charging (140 i think amps?) but after completely replacing the alternator its still doing it. its fine if im driving but when i hit my brakes or turn on my turn signal it drains the battery really fast and i have to floor it to charge back up. my bright light completely kill the car as soon as i hit the switch. and my dome lights keep staying oni cant get them offalso when i hit my turn signal all the lights in the car flash with them. today we found a slice in the battery cable. it was pretty bad but we fixed it as best as we could and taped it tightly. any suggestions as to what this could be? i deliver pizzas and need a decent running car. its a 1996 pontiac bonneville seit has the 3800 if that matters. i wasted money on the alternator so i dont want to buy a new bat unless i know thats it

Just from the first few lines you have a Battery Alternator Problem! 1; Battery: if it's 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 Years Old or looks Swollen (Shorted) on the Sides Replace It. If it seems to be Good Remove and have it Fully charged then Load Tested for 15 Seconds at 50% of CCA not dropping below 9.6 Volts during the Test showing if the Battery will Take and Hold a Charge. 2; Sounds like the Alternator is Shorted and needs to be Replaced (Excessively High Volts and Low Amp Output!) 3; Excessive Output from the Alternator my have Damaged the Red Wire w/Fuseable Link between the Alternator and Battery, also Check the Battery Cable Condition and Secure Connections.

Q:Driving school school car, left hand steering wheel in front of a lever, I know down to press the left light, push up the right light. Open the headlamps, the low beam on the light? Or the lever, then forward is not a high beam, in situ is not near light, pull to their own is not the use of far and near the light? There are overtaking need to change the distance lights, the night cross the intersection to use the far and near the light. What's the difference? Is there a difference between changing the distance light and the alternate use? I know where the fog lights are, then the fog lights are not and the front fog lights on a button?

This is part of the on board computer system. You are looking at a dealer issue to repair. Cannot be disabled and the car still run.

this could be your service indicator. look at how many miles you have on the odometer and see if it should be a regular scheduled maintenance time. if that doesn't ring any bells hit up autozone to have the computer scanned for faults. My jetta had the CEL on for about 8 months until recently i had a part completely crap out on me and needed to be replaced. EDIT* the reason the light went out is because the person who read the code for you cleared it from the computer's memory. If there is a problem the light will come back on. Being that it involves the ignition system i would have it looked at by a trustworthy mechanic. if unrepaired it can cause starting problems which could lead to killing your spark plugs, distributor, wires, etc.

Q:They don‘t completely go out, but dim for a second then get bright again. Happens about once every 90seconds. Checked alternator - tested good one store bad at another. Can‘t see any obvious bad connects , contacts or grounds. ‘98 Ford Taurus. Suggestions?

The alternator can be easily checked with a simple volt meter - the battery should read 13.8-14.2 volts with engine running at 1200-1500 RPM's. It sounds like you may have a short in the lighting circuit.

Q:I went to start it on my lunch break yesterday and it was dead. I called AAA and they came to jump it and also did a test and said the battery tested fine, but it was dead again when I left work. After jumping it, driving it for 45 min and then leaving it running (lights, radio, etc turned off) for 20 min at home, it would not start again an hour later. The car has 100,000 miles on it and it is still the original battery. I have never had issues with it before. In fact, I have left interior lights on for hours and was surprised how long the battery lasted before it died. I'm really hoping I just need to replace the battery and not the alternator or something else. Anyone have any ideas?

I'd say your due for a new battery but the alternator could be going bad also. Only way to tell is to pull the battery and/or have it recharged/load tested at a shop or parts store that offers that service and also have the charging system/alternator checked for correct output. Most likely the battery is junk after 6 years/100K miles.

Q:I had my engine light come on, i went to auto zone and they scanned my car and got a error code that said Massive Leak in the Evap System. They convinced me it was probably a result of a worn gas cap. Thus I bought a new cap $10. The problem still persists.I disconnected the battery to try to clear the ecm, did not work.What are the possible leaks?What does the leak mean?How do I clear the error if I don't fix the leak?

Could be a leaking fuel cap, could be anywhere on the evap lines or connections. It could be 10$ for a cap or a few hundred for any evap system components. Have a mechanic diagnose the system and get you a price.
