let me say this once again. autozone is only able to read obdII codes, not dealer specific codes. the comp. has 2 sides to it obdII and dealer specific. your codes are most likely on the dealer specific side. You need a qualified tech to diagnose the prob, on this one. if Autozone employees really new what they were doing they would be making real money as a technician. gl to yaand bang your head for me when u get to ozfest. actually it can be read with real scanners like the modis(snap-on), determinator (matco).etc. these scanner run about 4,000 to 7,000 with accessories. Any good auto shop will have one of these and be able to read any codes/ history codes, freeze frame data, etc that is in your computer. it will cost you one hour labor to have this done. by the way, autozones code reader runs about 40 dollarslol.

I have an 07 Civic LX 4-Dr, and for now I've kept my car pretty much stock with splash guards only. I was thinking of getting some aftermarket 16-inch alloys b/c the steel wheels w/ hubcaps is hurting my fuel economy. Don't bother with an underbody spoiler and wheel locks (actually, on the wheel locks, it's your choice, but the underbody spoiler is not really a necessity if you're concerned about your car getting scratched by dips and driveways). Door edge guard? Wouldn't worry about that much, either. Fog lights? Sure. Trunk tray? Only if you want to keep the carpeting clean from spilled groceries from Costco. :P Interior gauge kit? Q:I just got into my car this morning and noticed my ABS light is on. It was not on last night, so I have no idea what happened. My car sat inside all night, and like I said, when I got in and started it this morning, the ABS light was on and did not turn off the entire way to work. Does anyone know what may have caused this, and what needs to be done?

it is not your brake pads. your abs does not know if your brake pads are worn. possibilities are: abs sensor/ ring problem (one on each wheel, the most common problem) wiring problem/ fuses, etc. computer problem hydraulic problem (least likely if the brakes feel ok, and usually the red brake light would be on for this) and- just to be safe- check the brake fluid level. usually this will turn the red brake light on, but better safe than sorry, it takes like two minutes. when the abs light comes on, there is a trouble codesaved in the computers memory. this needs to be retrieved, using a capable scanner. next step- test according to the code as needed, etc. you should be ok to drive until you can get it checked out, as long as the brakes feel ok. you will still have your normal brakes, you just wont have the antilock feature (rain, snow, etc.) whitch some cars dont even have. when there is a serious urgent brake problem, the red brake light will light also. im assuming from your question that only the yellow abs light is on. the answers you are getting here are for the red brake light, not the abs light. hope this helps, good luck. oh also- dont disconnect the battery if you want to find out why it came on!! it will erase the memory. if it was a one time problem, and fixes itself, the light will eventually go out on its own.

Your two cents is worth millions. I've been trying to tell people that for a couple of years. Having AutoZone read the code is good, IF you can logically deduce what the problem is. So many parts get changed out uselessly. Keep up the good work.

The egr is an expansive part, also check to make sure the spark plugs are not fouled out. because the egr was bad it could have made your car's computer compensate either really rich or really lean, also make sure to have your suspension system checked out for any possible damaged done buy hitting the snow bank

Someone told me that if you unplug the positive terminal of the battery, wait about 20 minutes, then replug it in the codes should be reset and it will be off for a while.Does anyone know if this is true? Easiest thing to do is unhook the battery for 30 minutes, then reconnect it. The auto parts stores have OBD2 scanners, not the OBD1 system you have. If the light comes back on, you need to find a mechanic. The auto parts stores have stopped resetting lights for obvious legal reasons.

Q:I went to work yesterday and when I got into my car the car didn‘t start and everything was shot off. The lights were on and I knew the battery was dead. After this, I got my jumper cables out and tried to jump the car but when I turned the key, the RPM gauge needle went all the way to 8 and dropped to the other side and the whole system shut down. After that, nothing else worked even with the cables connected. It‘s a 1990 Honda Civic and it‘s a fairly new battery. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

You didn't give a lot of info. You said your lights were on. Was your headlight working? If your headlight is working then it's not your battery. The headlight drains the battery more than anything else so that would be the first to go if your battery was dead. Does your engine try to start but just doesn't quite make it or does it not make any noise at all? If no noise, do you hear a clicking noise? These are important questions. Just tow your car into a shop. I doubt you will be able to fix your car by yourself.
